But if you think this is just a stylish getaway, think again - murder and betrayal are definitely on the guest list. The movie premieres at SXSW on Friday, March 7 before hitting Prime Video on Thursday, May 1, so let’s get into everything you need to know before streaming.

Everything you need to know about ‘Another Simple Favor’:

What happens in the original ‘A Simple Favor’?

Spoiler Alert. There are spoilers below for ‘A Simple Favor.’

In “A Simple Favor,” mommy vlogger Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) thinks she’s hit the jackpot in the friend department when she bonds with the effortlessly glamorous and sharp-tongued Emily (Blake Lively). One day, Emily asks Stephanie to babysit her son while she takes care of something. Then — radio silence. Days pass, and Stephanie starts to worry, only to find out that Emily supposedly took off to Miami. But when a body turns up in a lake, things spiral fast. Stephanie, now knee-deep in her own amateur investigation, digs into Emily’s past and uncovers a bombshell: Emily’s real name is Hope McLanden, and she and her twin sister, Faith, set fire to their family home, killing their abusive father before disappearing. But the real kicker? Emily faked her death by drowning Faith and passing off her body as her own.

That should be the end of it, but Emily isn’t done playing games. She resurfaces, worming her way back into her old life, gaslighting everyone around her - including her husband, Sean (Henry Golding), and Stephanie. But this time, Stephanie isn’t just a naive sidekick. In a tense final confrontation, she fakes shooting Sean to make Emily confess - only for Emily to realize the ruse, disable the hidden microphones, and actually shoot Sean in the shoulder. Just when it seems like she might get away with it, Stephanie pulls out one last trick: she’s been live-streaming Emily’s confession the whole time. Cops show up, Emily is arrested, and Stephanie trades in her mommy-vlog life for true crime content - because after everything she’s been through, she might as well get a career out of it.

If that summary isn’t enough and you want to watch the movie (you should!), you can stream “A Simple Favor” with a subscription to Netflix.

A Simple Favor

Stephanie, a dedicated mother and popular vlogger, befriends Emily, a mysterious upper-class woman whose son Nicky attends the same school as Miles, Stephanie’s son. When Emily asks her to pick Nicky up from school and then disappears, Stephanie undertakes an investigation that will dive deep into Emily’s cloudy past.

What is ‘Another Simple Favor’ about?

In “Another Simple Favor,” our favorite duo, Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) are back and stirring up trouble in the most glamorous way possible. This time, they’re heading to the stunning island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s over-the-top wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. But don’t let the picturesque setting fool you—this celebration is packed with more twists and turns than the winding roads of the Amalfi Coast. Murder and betrayal are just a couple of the uninvited guests crashing this soiree.

Behind the scenes, the dream team is back together. Paul Feig returns to direct, bringing his signature blend of style and dark humor that made the first film a hit. The screenplay is penned by Jessica Sharzer, who adapted the original, along with Laeta Kalogridis. Joining Kendrick and Lively are familiar faces Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, and Bashir Salahuddin, reprising their roles. New additions to the cast include Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, and Allison Janney, adding even more intrigue to the mix.

Who are the main characters of ‘Another Simple Favor’?

In “Another Simple Favor,” some familiar faces are back, and a few new ones are crashing the party. Here’s who you’ll see mixing it up in this twisty sequel:

  • Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) – Our favorite mommy vlogger-turned-amateur detective is back, and this time, she’s in way over her head at Emily’s extravagant wedding in Capri. If Stephanie thought she was done unraveling secrets, she was very, very wrong.

  • Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) – The effortlessly chic and always-scheming Emily is alive, well, and about to get married to a rich Italian businessman. But knowing Emily, things won’t stay picture-perfect for long.

  • Sean Townsend (Henry Golding) – Emily’s smooth-talking husband (or should we say ex?) returns, and with Emily getting remarried, you can bet there’s going to be some drama.

  • Darren (Andrew Rannells) – Darren’s back, and while we don’t know exactly what he’s up to this time if he’s involved, there’s sure to be plenty of sass and some major side-eye moments.

  • Detective Summerville (Bashir Salahuddin) – The detective who got tangled up in Emily’s mess before is returning, which probably means someone’s about to need investigating—again.

  • Miles Smothers (Joshua Satine) & Nicky Nelson (Ian Ho) – Stephanie and Emily’s kids are back, and considering the kind of chaos their moms attract, they’re probably in for another wild ride.

  • Stacy (Kelly McCormack) & Sona (Aparna Nancherla) – More returning faces, likely keeping Stephanie grounded—or pulling her deeper into trouble.

  • Michele Morrone – Rumor has it he’s playing Emily’s soon-to-be husband, which means he’s either the luckiest guy alive or about to regret everything.

  • Elizabeth Perkins & Allison Janney – No details yet on who they’re playing, but let’s be real—when these two show up, you know it’s gonna be good.
