What is ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5 about?

Season 5 of “Emily in Paris” picks up right where the drama left off — with Emily splitting her time between Paris and Rome, trying to figure out her next move in both love and work. She’s officially leading Agence Grateau’s new Rome office, which sounds like a dream… until you realize it comes with its own chaos. Between trying to keep things professional with Marcello (aka her new Italian boyfriend) and juggling high-stakes client drama, Emily’s about to find out that living la dolce vita isn’t all pasta and sunsets.

The season is expected to dive deeper into Emily’s relationship with Marcello, which show creator Darren Star says has real potential. But it’s not all smooth sailing. Gabriel is still in the picture (and still in love with her), and Alfie’s parting words didn’t exactly shut the door on that storyline either. So yeah, there’s definitely going to be a love triangle… or maybe even a love square. Meanwhile, Sylvie is facing major decisions in her personal life, the agency is going through shakeups, and Mindy’s career is taking off in unexpected ways after her viral street performance in Rome.

And of course, no season of “Emily in Paris” is complete without secrets, surprises, and over-the-top fashion. Netflix has teased that two big secrets will threaten everything Emily and Gabriel have built together — personally and professionally — which means the tension is far from over. So whether she’s sipping wine in Italy or dodging drama in France, Emily’s about to be pulled in even more directions. Will she finally find balance, or is she about to break her own heart all over again? Season 5 promises plenty of twists to keep us guessing.

Who’s been cast in ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5?

Season 5 of “Emily in Paris” is bringing back all the familiar faces — and yes, that includes the love triangle (square?) crew. Lily Collins returns as Emily, alongside Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), and Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello), who’s officially sticking around as her new Italian flame. Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Ashley Park (Mindy), and Camille Razat (Camille) are also back, keeping the Paris chaos alive while Emily settles into her Rome chapter. Despite some off-screen frustrations, Bravo is confirmed for Season 5, and Variety says production kicks off in May. Oh, and there’s a fun little rumor going around that Kim Cattrall might make a cameo. Nothing confirmed yet, but the cast has been openly “manifesting” it — so you never know.

What happened at the end of ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 4?

Spoiler Alert. There are spoilers below for Season 4 of ‘Emily in Paris.’

Season 4 of “Emily in Paris” was basically a tale of two cities, with Emily juggling romance, work drama, and a whole lot of confusion between Paris and Rome. Things heat up fast when Emily finds herself falling for Marcello, a charming Italian heir she meets at a polo match. After some mixed signals (including a ghosting situation courtesy of Sylvie’s work interference), she chases him to Rome for a little PTO and a lot of “Is this guy actually into me?” Turns out, he is. They reconnect, both personally and professionally, and Emily ends up helping Agence Grateau land Marcello’s family’s fashion brand as a client. It’s a win for her love life and her career — and the finale leaves Emily with a Vespa ride through Rome and a big new role running the firm’s Italian office.

Meanwhile, things in Paris are far from calm. Gabriel earns a Michelin star but realizes (a little too late) that he’s still in love with Emily. After a blowout on a ski trip and an awkward language barrier moment, they’re technically broken up — but his feelings haven’t gone anywhere. Even Alfie, of all people, tells him to go fight for her. Throw in Genevieve, Sylvie’s stepdaughter turned Emily’s protégé turned maybe-Gabriel’s-rebound, and yeah… it’s messy. The season ends with Emily seemingly settled in Rome, but Gabriel might not be ready to let her go just yet. Whether she stays in the Eternal City or returns to the City of Light is the big question heading into Season 5.

If a short synopsis isn’t enough to get you ready for Season 5, you can stream all the seasons of “Emily in Paris” on Netflix now.
