Prime Video to drop final episodes of ‘Fallout’ Season 2 early
Season 2 brings the apocalypse to the Mojave, with more lore, more chaos, and Macaulay Culkin in the mix.
“Fallout” is one of my favorite shows of the last few years and one of the best video game adaptations ever, right alongside the first season of “The Last of Us.” And now, the apocalypse is back. Season 2 premiered last month, and with two episodes remaining, Prime Video is making a change to the release schedule. The fan excitement for the new season initially moved up the season premiere six hours, and now, the final two episodes are following suit and will premiere at 9 p.m. ET on the next two Tuesdays. Don’t miss any of the action with a 30-day free trial to Prime Video.

Can you watch ‘Fallout’ Season 2 for free?
Possibly! Prime Video offers a 30-day free trial for new users, and if Season 2 of “Fallout” follows the same all-at-once drop as Season 1, you’ll be able to binge the whole thing during your trial. Even if they go weekly this time, you can still stream Season 1 and catch a few episodes of Season 2 without paying a dime. After that, plans start at $9 per month with ads or $12 per month ad-free.
Why do we recommend Prime Video for watching ‘Fallout’?
Because you won’t find it anywhere else. “Fallout” is a Prime Video exclusive, which means you’ll need a subscription to watch Season 1 or stream the new episodes when Season 2 drops in December. Plans start at $9 per month with ads, or $12 if you want to go ad-free, and both let you stream in HD and download episodes to watch offline.

What is ‘Fallout’ Season 2 about?
Season 2 of “Fallout” is heading to the Mojave Wasteland, which fans of the games will recognize as the home of New Vegas. That means we’re moving out of the ruins of Los Angeles and into a whole new part of the post-apocalyptic world, one that somehow managed to avoid a direct nuclear blast when the bombs dropped. It’s a place run by strange factions, shady alliances, and a whole lot of chaos, and the showrunners have confirmed we’ll get even deeper into the Fallout lore this time around. One big tease? Mr. House (the creepy, immortal-ish tech mogul who runs Vegas in the game) made a cameo at the end of Season 1 and is expected to play a much bigger role moving forward.
We’ll also be getting more backstory on Walton Goggins’s Ghoul character, including flashbacks from across his 200 years of surviving in the wasteland. That alone should be worth tuning in for. Meanwhile, Macaulay Culkin is joining the cast as a mysterious, possibly unhinged genius… you know, the kind of wild card this world thrives on. Expect to meet more factions (maybe even Caesar’s Legion or the super mutants), and maybe finally visit some of the weirder, more twisted Vaults that the games are known for. Basically, the world’s about to get a whole lot bigger, weirder, and more dangerous, and I cannot wait.
Fallout
The story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.
What happened at the end of ‘Fallout’ Season 1?
Spoiler Alert: There are spoilers below for Season 1 of ‘Fallout.’
Season 1 ends with some massive reveals that change everything we thought we knew about the wasteland. Lucy finally finds her father, Hank, but it’s not the sweet reunion she hoped for… turns out, Hank’s been running Vault-Tec’s twisted experiments from the inside, and he’s been lying to everyone, including her, for years. Meanwhile, Maximus gets deeper into the Brotherhood of Steel’s power struggle, and The Ghoul (aka Cooper) finds a new reason to keep surviving: revenge, clarity, or maybe both. The surface world might be scorched and broken, but by the finale, it’s clear the vaults might be even worse.
The biggest twist? A quick reveal that sets up Season 2 in a big way… the camera pans out to show New Vegas, one of the few major cities to survive the nuclear blasts, hinting that our next chapter is heading straight into the Mojave. We also get a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo from Mr. House, the mysterious figure who runs Vegas in the games, which all but confirms he’s going to be a major player moving forward. So yeah, Season 1 leaves us with a bunch of new questions, a fractured crew, and a wide-open road ahead.
Who stars in ‘Fallout’?
Season 2 of “Fallout” brings back the core trio from Season 1 — Ella Purnell as Lucy, Aaron Moten as Maximus, and Walton Goggins as The Ghoul — all of whom made it through the chaos and are heading into the next chapter of the story. Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, and Frances Turner are also expected to return, though details on how big their roles will be haven’t been confirmed.
The big new addition for Season 2 is Macaulay Culkin, who’s playing a recurring “crazy genius-type” character possibly tied to Mr. House or one of the bizarre wasteland science groups teased at the end of Season 1. No word yet on who else might join the cast, but with the story shifting to New Vegas, expect some wild new faces (and factions) to show up along the way.
How can you watch previous seasons of ‘Fallout’?
Season 1 of “Fallout” is streaming exclusively on Prime Video, and it’s 100% worth a binge before Season 2 drops in December. The show had me from the opening scene, and it’s one continuous story from there, so if you want to understand who these characters are and how we ended up heading to New Vegas, Season 1 is essential. It’s only eight episodes, but it packs in a ton of world-building, character arcs, and some really epic twists.
