Leo Woodall stars in ‘Prime Target,’ a new conspiracy thriller on Apple TV+

A brilliant mathematician’s discovery creates danger in this suspense-filled series.

What would you do if you could access every computer in the world? And who would try and stop you? Those questions are at the heart of Apple TV+ new conspiracy thriller TV show, “Prime Target,” premiering on Wednesday, Jan. 22 with the first two episodes. The series follows Edward Brooks, a genius mathematician played by Leo Woodall (“The White Lotus”), who’s on the brink of cracking a prime number pattern that could give him access to every computer system in the world. But when word of his discovery gets out, he becomes a target for dangerous forces trying to bury the truth. Mixing tense action with a modern espionage twist, here’s everything you need to know about “Prime Target” ahead of its debut on Apple TV+.

Everything you need to know about ‘Prime Target’:

What is ‘Prime Target’ about?

While there’s no official trailer yet for “Prime Target,” there are details about the story. It follows Edward Brooks, a genius post-graduate mathematician who’s just made a mind-blowing discovery… he’s cracked a pattern in prime numbers that could, in theory, unlock every computer system in the world. Brooks isn’t exactly ready for the attention this breakthrough brings, and when word gets out, dangerous people who don’t want this information going public start closing in. So, Brooks is forced to go on the run while trying to protect his work.

To make things even more intense, NSA agent Taylah Sanders, played by Quintessa Swindell (“Black Adam),” has been keeping tabs on Brooks from the start. But as the threats against him mount, she realizes there’s a much bigger conspiracy at play and joins him in trying to figure out who’s behind it all. Together, they get tangled in a deadly web of secrets, betrayals, and life-or-death stakes that only get more dangerous as the series goes on.

The series is from award-winning writer Steve Thompson, who previously created “Vienna Blood,” and worked on “Sherlock.” Director Brady Wood (“Top Boy),” helms all eight episodes. Produced by New Regency in collaboration with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions, “Prime Target” promises a blend of intellectual intrigue and suspenseful drama with enough action to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Who is the creator of ‘Prime Target’?

Steve Thompson, the creator of “Prime Target,” didn’t take the typical path into TV. He started out as a math teacher before deciding to give writing a shot. After winning an award for his first play, “Damages,” he made the jump into television and went on to write for big shows like “Doctor Who,” “Silk,” “Sherlock” - where he worked alongside Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss – and “Vienna Blood” which he created. Thompson’s knack for crafting smart, suspenseful stories with interesting characters - along with his math background - make him the perfect creative mind behind “Prime Target.”
