Still not over ‘Severance’? Here’s what could be next in Season 3

Still not over ‘Severance’? Here’s what could be next in Season 3

With the Innies on the run and Lumon on lockdown, nothing’s off the table.

With a background in film and branded content, he covers sports and entertainment with sharp insight and creativity. A longtime Oilers fan, he’s still holding out hope for a Stanley Cup run.
Severance Season 3 is officially returning. Here's what you need to know.

I’ve been obsessed with “Severance” since the first episode dropped. Season 2 might’ve taken forever to arrive, but it was absolutely worth the wait — the stakes were higher, the tension was thicker, and I loved every unsettling second of it.

Still, I’ve got questions… a lot of them. And while the finale delivered some great turns, it also left plenty of threads dangling (seriously, what is Lumon Industries really up to?). Thankfully, we won’t have to wonder forever, as Season 3 is officially on the way. Here’s everything you need to know about the third season of ‘Severance.’

Everything you need to know about ‘Severance’ Season 3:

What happened at the end of ‘Severance’ Season 2?

Spoiler Alert. There are spoilers below for Season 2 of ‘Severance.’

Season 2 of “Severance” ends with Innie-Mark making the most intense decision of the series so far. After fulfilling his end of the plan he made with his Outie, he reunites with Gemma (his Outie’s long-lost wife, now known as Ms. Casey), who’s been trapped in a testing facility for two years, forced to live as dozens of different Innies, each created through Mark’s MDR work.

He gets her all the way to the exit stairwell — the one place she can phase out and be truly free. But instead of following her out, he turns back. Why? Because Helly is standing there, and in that split second, Innie-Mark chooses his identity and love life over his Outie’s. He runs, hand in hand with Helly, back into Lumon’s twisted maze, leaving Gemma screaming behind the door. It’s a brutal, emotional punch — equal parts love story and existential crisis.

And that’s just the end. Before that, there’s a full-on descent into the underworld, with creepy rituals, goat sacrifices, animatronic Kier, and the darkest fight scene the show’s ever done. Innie Mark gets manipulated by literally everyone — his Outie, Cobel, Devon — but still manages to finish the “Cold Harbor” file, a data project secretly linked to Gemma’s tortured mind. Meanwhile, Milchick gets locked in a bathroom (justice!), Dylan makes a heroic return, and we meet a bizarre new department called Choreography & Merriment. It’s wild.

But underneath all the surreal moments is something deeply human: the idea that even if your memories are taken from you, your need for love, freedom, and identity doesn’t go away. Season 2 leaves our characters mid-run, hurtling toward who-knows-what… with some serious emotional stakes to be dealt with.

Check out a recap of ‘Severance’ Season 2:

What is ‘Severance’ Season 3 about?

We don’t have an official logline yet, but based on how Season 2 ends, it’s pretty clear Season 3 of “Severance” will dive right into the fallout from Mark’s choice to leave Gemma behind and run off with Helly. Outie Mark and Gemma are technically reunited, but not if Mark’s still inside Lumon as his Innie (and in love with Helly). Meanwhile, Helly’s being eyed by Jame Eagan as a potential heir to the company, which definitely spells trouble, and whatever Cold Harbor was building toward probably isn’t over yet. With Lumon on lockdown, Cobel and Devon in the wind, and a whole lot of new questions about what the Innies were really refining, Season 3 looks like it’s heading deeper into the company’s secrets — and let’s hope towards a real reckoning.

When will episodes of ‘Severance’ Season 3 come on Apple TV+?

Apple TV+ hasn’t set a release date for Season 3 of “Severance” yet, and if we’re being honest, it might be a while. After nearly three years between Seasons 1 and 2, the hope is that the next gap won’t be as long — but even the most optimistic timeline has new episodes arriving in late 2026 or sometime in 2027. Production is reportedly moving forward, and the writers have already started breaking the story, so that’s a good sign. Like previous seasons, episodes will probably drop weekly on Apple TV+, usually around 3 a.m. ET. We’ll update this once Apple makes it official.

Apple TV

Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

…

In October 2025, Apple TV agreed to a deal with Formula 1 to exclusively broadcast all Formula 1 races starting with the 2026 season.

Apple TV also features coverage of all regular-season matches for Major League Soccer (MLS) at no additional cost.

On August 28th, 2026, the price of Apple TV was increased from $12.99 per month to $14.99 per month, the second increase in as many years.

The service is available worldwide through the Apple TV app, which is built into Apple devices and supported on most smart TVs, streaming players like Roku and Fire TV, game consoles, and web browsers. Subscribers can watch on demand, download episodes and movies for offline viewing, and stream in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, where available. Apple TV also offers family sharing, allowing up to six people to use one subscription at no extra cost.

With a competitive monthly price and bundles available through Apple One — which combines Apple TV with Apple Music, Apple Arcade, iCloud storage, and more — the service continues to grow as a key part of Apple’s ecosystem. Apple TV delivers one of the strongest collections of exclusive content in the streaming space for viewers seeking prestige originals, cinematic storytelling, and seamless access across devices.

Who’s been cast in ‘Severance’ Season 3?

The core cast of “Severance” is expected to return for Season 3 — so you can count on Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, and Zach Cherry all reprising their roles. Given how things ended, Dichen Lachman (Gemma/Ms. Casey) will almost definitely be back too, especially now that her character is at the heart of the show’s biggest moral dilemma.

No new cast members have been officially announced just yet, but with Beau Willimon (creator of “House of Cards” and “Andor” writer) now in the mix, there’s a good chance we’ll see some fresh faces alongside the familiar ones. And if past seasons are any indication, those new characters won’t just be background — they’ll be tied to Lumon’s larger mysteries in ways we don’t see coming.

How can you watch previous seasons of ‘Severance’?

You can stream both seasons of “Severance” right now on Apple TV+. Whether you’re starting from the beginning or just need a refresher before Season 3 arrives, every episode is available to binge. The show’s slow-burn tension, eerie world-building, and emotional gut-punches make it a rewatch-worthy ride — especially once you know how deep the rabbit hole goes. Apple TV+ costs $10 per month and offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers.
