What’s my favorite Prime Video feature? Its Subscriptions page

The Subscriptions page on Prime Video takes the service’s convenience factor into another universe.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

For a service that many think of as little more than an afterthought benefit to an Amazon Prime subscription, Prime Video hasn’t been afraid to make bold moves in streaming. Pursuing franchises like “Lord of the Rings” and “Fallout,” going after the NFL’s “Thursday Night Football,” and swiping NBA games away from Warner Bros. Discovery spring immediately to mind.

But for all the content found on Prime Video, my favorite feature has much less to do with the individual shows, movies, and sports the streamer has. Instead, my favorite feature is the Prime Video Subscriptions marketplace — a digital store with a wide variety of options. I’ll tell you more about those options and why it’s the best part about using the streamer for my money.

The Subscriptions marketplace on Prime Video allows subscribers of that streamer to sign up for additional streaming services, watch their content through the Prime Video app, and keep the bills all in one place. It offers a wide range of options to sign up for, from premier services like HBO Max and Paramount+ to more niche options like Acorn TV and Crunchyroll. The sheer amount of selection is reason enough to like the Subscriptions page on Prime Video, but there are more.

So, what’s my favorite thing about Subscriptions? In a word, convenience. Let’s start with billing — having three or four or five streaming subscriptions means you have that many automatic debits on your account when each bill comes out every month. It’s never a fun surprise to see your cash reserve suddenly and unexpectedly fall before remembering which streaming bill just dropped on your head. With Prime Video, all the bonus services you sign up for are kept on the same bill, leaving you much less to keep track of.

Next, there’s the convenience of watching all the same content on one app. You don’t have to download all those apps into an overcrowded home screen or folder on your phone when you can just stream all that content through Prime Video instead. Save storage on your devices, and cut down on the amount of scrolling you have to do all at the same time.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the exclusive bundles on Prime Video, which allow you to sign up for two streamers at once and save as much as $7 per month off your bill. You can shop combos like HBO Max and STARZ, Hallmark+ and discovery+, and many others, and these bundles can’t be found anywhere except the Prime Video subscription page.

The page itself also does a good job of presenting all the different hit shows and movies that come with the streaming subscriptions you can add. Your choices will be laid out before you in easy-to-browse rows, and once you click on a title, you’ll be taken right to the page of the streaming service that carries it.

The X-Ray feature and the extensive collection of transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) choices on Prime Video got definite consideration for my favorite feature, but in the end, the Subscriptions marketplace won the day. The amount of choices and the convenience the platform offers make it too good to pass up as my top benefit of a Prime Video subscription.
