Fox One adds nearly 3 million new customers in June
The streamer is one of multiple platforms that struck ratings gold thanks to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The rising tide of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has lifted more than one programmer’s boat. The tournament was a huge success from a domestic TV ratings standpoint, but new data from Antenna shows that the World Cup also delivered for streaming platforms, as well. Specifically, Antenna found that Fox One, which offered direct-to-consumer access to English-language streams of every game of the World Cup, gained nearly 3 million new subscribers in June alone thanks to the tournament.
Key Details:
- Welcome aboard: Fox One added 2.8 million new subscribers in June for the World Cup.
- Football and football: The streamer’s previous largest acquisition month was January 2026, for the NFL playoffs.
- YouTube helps: YouTube TV Primetime Channels captured 15% of new Fox One signups.
Antenna’s data shows that Fox One drew 2.8 million sign-ups in June 2026. That makes for the single largest customer acquisition month in the streamer’s brief history, and best yet, 93% of these additions were new subscribers; only 7% were customers who had previously subscribed to the service and were returning to Fox One after canceling.
The streamer’s previous best month for sign-ups was January 2026, when it brought in 1.1 million viewers to watch the NFL playoffs. Fox One streams all live sporting events that can be found on the Fox broadcast network, FS1, or FS2, as well as Big Ten Network. With the college football season just around the corner, more big subscriber acquisitions could well be in Fox One’s future.
Most people who chose to sign up for Fox One in June did so via direct subscription. Forty percent of new subscriptions to the service came via this method, while YouTube’s Primetime Channels captured another 15% of new sign-ups, despite only adding Fox One as a subscription option on June 1.
The question for Fox now pivots to how to keep these subscribers in the fold. Clearly, viewers will respond in a big way to major sporting events, and the 2026-27 NFL season is now just weeks away. Will that be enough to keep these newfound Fox One subscribers in the fold?
We won’t know the answer for a few months, but Fox One has good reason to be pleased with its World Cup additions, nonetheless. The tournament’s final match drew an eye-popping 62.8 million viewers across the Fox broadcast network, Telemundo, and Peacock, and future World Cups could end up putting all these numbers to shame.
