Fubo ends Q2 with most North American subscribers ever
The streamer had a strong second quarter, bolstered no doubt by broadcasts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup beginning in the second quarter of 2026, many might well assume that Fubo would have strong quarterly earnings results; after all, Fubo began its life as a soccer-focused streaming service. The streamer did not fall short of expectations, reporting a jump in revenue and record North American subscribers in its fiscal third quarter.
Key Details:
- Big win: Fubo and Hulu + Live TV ended their fiscal third quarter with over 6 million customers.
- Still shrinking: Net losses fell to $25.7 million in the quarter.
- Taking steps: Fubo recently mended fences with NBCUniversal and made a switch at CEO.
Fubo is now combined under the same corporate roof as Hulu + Live TV, and the two streamers report their quarterly earnings as one unit under the Fubo name. The company now has 5.75 million North American subscribers, the largest number in its history. Add in 356,000 subscribers from the rest of the world, and Fubo now claims 6.1 million subscribers overall, just ahead of its previous quarter totals.
Financially, Fubo showed a net loss of $25.7 million in its fiscal third quarter — down from $38 million in the year-ago quarter. North American revenue rose from $1.074 billion last year to $1.474 billion this year, and the company adjusted some of its long-term financial targets upward based on the strong quarterly results.
New Fubo CEO Alisa Bowen pointed to high-profile sports events like the 2026 NBA Finals, as well as the start of the FIFA World Cup during the quarter, as reasons for the company’s success. Bowen was appointed to the role in July, taking over from longtime Fubo chief executive David Gandler.
“As we look to build on this momentum, my focus is on accelerating the growth of FuboTV, by refining and expanding our packaging options, broadening our distribution and investing in user experience innovation that enhances flexibility, choice and value for the consumer,” Bowen said in a note to shareholders. “I am working closely with our FuboTV team, Disney leadership and all our valued partners to evolve our strategy and, in the months ahead, I look forward to sharing more details on our plans to drive shareholder value.”
During the streamer’s fiscal third quarter, Fubo was finally able to quash a retransmission dispute with NBCUniversal that had stretched on since late 2025. The restoration of Telemundo to the streamer was no doubt a major help to Fubo, since that channel carried Spanish-language broadcasts of World Cup games in the U.S.
