On your marks, get set, bake! One of the most popular shows on television is officially returning later this month… at least in the United Kingdom. On Wednesday, the official social media accounts for “The Great British Bakeoff” announced that the beloved competition show will return to the U.K.’s Channel 4 on Tuesday, Sept. 24. However, due to its exclusive licensing deal with Netflix, it won’t stream in the United States right away. So when will American dessert connoisseurs be able to stream the heartwarming show?

  • “The Great British Bake Off” will return in the U.K. on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
  • If tradition holds, Netflix will begin streaming the new season on Friday, Sept. 27.
  • Assuming that ends up being true, the season finale will be available in the U.S. on Black Friday.

First off, not to get pedantic, but you can’t really watch “The Great British Bakeoff” in the U.S. without the assistance of a VPN because Pillsbury owns the trademark for the term “bakeoff” So, for the Netflix versions of the series, it is rebranded as “The Great British Baking Show.” Nonetheless, in years past, Netflix has aired episodes of the series on the Friday following their Channel 4 premiere. If that tradition holds, then American fans of all things meringue, biscuit, and pâtisserie will be able to catch the 15th season (or series, if you are British) premiere on Friday, Sept. 27.

The Streamable has reached out to Netflix for confirmation of the show’s release schedule but has not yet heard back as of the publication of this article. When the streaming giant confirms when “The Great British Baking Show” will return, we will update this article. We know that you are excited, but you will just have to hold onto your soggy until official confirmation is received.

As always, this new “GBBO” installment will be made up of 10 episodes. That means that the season finale will air in the U.K. on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Therefore, if the traditional episode windowing holds, then the final episode of the season will be available to stream on Netflix on Friday, Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving. For the show’s millions of fans in the U.S., what better holiday gift could there possibly be?

Returning for her second season as the show’s presenter will be Alison Hammond, again alongside Noel Fielding, the star of Apple TV+’s comedy series “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.” Back for their eighth season together will be judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

But as is always the case, the stars of the show will undoubtedly be the contestants and their bakes. One of the most wholesome, soothing, and endearing shows in the history of television thrives on the spot-on assembly of lovely humans and bakers every season.
