What is ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’ about?
“Sean Combs: The Reckoning” helps viewers learn more about the real Sean Combs, a man who turned himself into a media mogul after a legendary music career. He was instrumental in bringing hip-hop to a new audience, and helped launch the career of a number of big-name artists like The Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige.

“What you will see in the documentary, you have to credit all of that to [fellow producer Alexandria Stapleton],” Jackson told Deadline last week. “She put it together through her pacing and her telling of the story. That’s why it doesn’t feel biased at all. It was important to us that [people] get their personal truths out, and for us to allow everybody to tell their story.”
Has Sean Combs responded to ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’?
Yes, the legal team representing Combs as he serves his prison sentence has issued a statement regarding the release of “Sean Combs: The Reckoning.”
“Netflix’s so-called ‘documentary’ is a shameful hit piece,” the spokesperson said. “Today’s teaser confirms that Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorized for release. As Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr. Combs has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix to misappropriate that work.”
“Netflix is plainly desperate to sensationalize every minute of Mr. Combs’ life, without regard for truth, in order to capitalize on a never-ending media frenzy,” the statement continued. “If Netflix cared about truth or about Mr. Combs’s legal rights, it would not be ripping private footage out of context – including conversations with his lawyers that were never intended for public viewing. No rights in that material were ever transferred to Netflix or any third party.”
