What parental controls are available on Hulu?
With the amount of adult-first content on Hulu, it’s a good thing the service has capable parental controls.
For all the animated content on Hulu, it’s hardly a kids’ streaming service. Most of those animated shows are geared toward adult audiences anyway, and while Hulu does have some titles dedicated specifically to young audiences, the majority of its catalog is definitely meant for more mature audiences.
With that in mind, parents with Disney Bundle subscriptions might be anxious to set up controls on Hulu to prevent unauthorized and unsupervised browsing. Is that possible? We’ll let you know more about how to use parental controls on Hulu here.
Everything you need to know about parental controls on Hulu
How do you restrict content by age on Hulu?
Hulu allows viewers to set up parental controls through the use of Kids Profiles. These automatically screen out TV shows and movies that aren’t appropriate for younger viewers.
To create a new Kids Profile on Hulu, find the profile creation screen on the Hulu app or website. You can toggle the option to make any new profile a kids-only one on Hulu, and once you do that, you can ensure your kids never see bad language, sex or nudity, or objectionable levels of violence while using your Hulu account.
How does Hulu keep kids from accessing non-kids profiles?
Hulu allows parents to set up a PIN to keep kids from accessing adult profiles or from setting up new profiles. To do this, go to the Hulu website on any browser and log in. Then:
- Find the profile icon.
- Click Manage Profiles.
- Toggle your PIN protection settings.
- Enter the password to confirm your identity.
- Click Save Changes when you’ve chosen a new PIN or set up your first PIN.
Can you lock out specific titles on Hulu?
No, there is no way to lock out or allow specific titles or movies on Hulu. Some viewers may have more particular tastes from title to title regarding what’s appropriate for their child, and wish to restrict shows and movies on that basis. While some streaming services allow for this level of customization, Hulu does not.
