How to sign up for Prime Video with or without the rest of Prime
You can subscribe to Amazon’s streaming service with or without a full Prime membership, depending on your preference.
Amazon offers more than one way to enjoy its streaming service Prime Video. Viewers can watch the streamer on its own, or get it as part of the larger Amazon Prime experience, depending on their preferences and the amount of online shopping they do.
Choosing just Prime Video instead of Prime comes with a cost savings, but also the drawback is that you don’t get a free trial when you go that route. Find out how to pursue either option below, and learn more about the benefits of a Prime Video account as well.

Does Prime Video come with a free trial?
This is one of the tricky things to keep in mind when looking into a Prime Video subscription. If you sign up for just Prime Video on its own, there is no free trial of any kind attached. Prime Video as a standalone service costs $9 per month.
If you sign up to get Prime Video as a Prime benefit, on the other hand, you do get a 30-day free trial to test out all the facets of a Prime subscription. The full Prime experience will run you $15 per month.

What are the two tiers of service on Prime Video?
If you choose Prime Video’s standalone service, you’re on the hook for $9 per month for ad-supported streaming. You can also upgrade to the ad-free subscription for $12 per month if you want to skip the commercials. Both plans allow you to stream on up to three devices simultaneously, and both allow you to download titles for offline viewing. The limit on the number of shows or movies you can download is 25 individual titles.
Some Prime Originals are offered in Ultra-High-Definition 4K, which is available on both plans for no extra charge.
Can you share Prime Video with someone outside your home?
Sharing your login information is a violation of Amazon’s terms of service, so technically the answer is no. However, Prime Video has not enacted a password-sharing crackdown on the level of Netflix, Disney+, Max, and other streamers – at least, not yet.
What can you watch on Prime Video?
Prime Video has a huge catalog, with tens of thousands of shows and moves available. The streamer rotates its selection of library shows frequently, so make sure to check back often, as a new favorite may have been added since the last time you used it.
There’s a host of original titles available on Prime Video as well, from action titles like “Reacher,” to epic fantasy shows like “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” to outlandish and incredibly violent superhero shows such as “The Boys.” It also offers a wide range of original movies, including recent selections like “Unstoppable.”
