About The Kennedy Center Honors:

The Kennedy Center Honors recognizes and celebrates individuals whose artistic contributions, from music to TV, “have shaped the way we see ourselves, each other, and our world.”

The 47th class of honorees includes acclaimed director and filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola; the legendary American rock band the Grateful Dead (Mickey Hart, Billy Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, and Bobby Weir); blues rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Bonnie Raitt; jazz trumpeter, pianist and composer Arturo Sandoval; and The Apollo, which will receive a special Honors as a historic American institution.

Remarks and presentations will include a wide range of special guest speakers and performers, including Dave Chappelle, Brandi Carlile, Andy Garcia, Chloe Sevigny, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, David Letterman, Sturgill Simpson, and more.

Queen Latifah hosted this year’s celebration, which was held on Dec. 8 at the Kennedy Center Opera House stage.
