It is officially awards season in Hollywood as the first major ceremony of 2025 will take place on Sunday, Jan. 5 as the 82nd Golden Globe Awards will air on a new home this year. After years of being broadcast on NBC, the celebration will move to CBS this year as comedian Nikki Glaser will host the event. After a few years of controversy surrounding the ceremony, the newly formed Golden Globes Foundation is looking to reestablish the awards as a major player in the entertainment industry. Spanish-language musical “Emilia Pérez” leads the film nominations with 10 while “The Bear” is the most nominated show with five. Why we recommend Hulu + Live TV to stream the 2025 Golden Globes
Since the Golden Globes are airing on CBS a broadcast network, there are tons of ways that you can stream the awards ceremony, so, if you are looking to sign up for a streaming service to watch the festivities, there is some strategy to pick the right one. Four of the six major live TV streaming services carry CBS, but I recommend Hulu + Live TV for a few main reasons. First, the streamer offers a three-day free trial, so you can sign up and watch the Globes at no cost and still get a few more days to browse what else the service has to offer.
Admittedly, Hulu doesn’t offer the longest free trial on the market (more on that in the next section), but it offers some pretty incredible benefits that no other service even comes close to matching. Since the Golden Globes look back at the best in film and television from the past year, it would make sense that if you want to stream the ceremony, you might also want to stream some of the titles that are nominated; and that’s where Hulu + Live TV is key.
In addition to your favorite cable channels and all of the broadcast networks, the service also provides full access to the complete Disney Bundle at no additional cost. Can you stream the 2025 Golden Globes for free?
Yes, you can. In addition to Hulu + Live TV mentioned above, four other services will provide you access to the Globes at no charge. You have the three other live TV streamers DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, and YouTube TV, as well as the traditionally on-demand streamer Paramount+ With Showtime. Let’s talk about the live streamers first.
DIRECTV STREAM’s industry-leading trial runs for five days, which is obviously longer than Hulu + Live TV’s three days. Fortunately, those live TV streamers are fairly straightforward, because things get a little complicated from there.
As The Streamable’s expert David Satin discovered when signing up for the sports-centric streamer Fubo, figuring out how long the trial is — even as you are signing up — can be a bit difficult. Nonetheless, it will be at least one day, with the potential to be as many as seven, depending on a wide range of factors that Fubo does not share publicly.
The YouTube TV trial is said to be “up to two weeks,” but can be as short as two days. So it is difficult to ascertain what you are actually getting before you go through the signup process. So, while both Fubo and YouTube TV are viable options to watch for free, it can be confusing trying to figure out how long you actually have for free.

Then there is Paramount+. Owned by the same parent company as CBS, the streamer has an inside track to offering the broadcast for free. Paramount+ comes with a seven-day free trial, but to access the live broadcast of the Globes, you will need to opt for the ad-free premium tier, Paramount+ With Showtime. This will allow you to stream your local CBS affiliate, and watch the Golden Globes for free. Normally, this subscription plan costs $13 per month. If watching live isn’t important to you, the entire broadcast will be available on demand on the ad-supported Paramount+ Essentials plan beginning on Monday, Jan. 6.
About the 2025 Golden Globes
Host and comedian Nikki Glaser will make Golden Globes history this year as she becomes the first woman to host the event on her own; famously, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted three times from 2013 to 2015. The night will celebrate best in film and television in 2024, with Spanish-language musical “Emilia Pérez” boasting 10 nominations, the most of any film — including for Best motion picture — Musical or comedy.
On the TV side, FX and Hulu’s “The Bear” comes in with five nominations, including Best television series — Musical or comedy. Netflix led both the film nominations with 13 (A24 had 12) and the TV nominations with 23 (HBO and Max had 14.
