Dove Cameron, Avan Jogia lead new streaming thriller ‘56 Days’
A chance meeting turns deadly 56 days later in this sexy psychological thriller.
“56 Days” is one of those thrillers that doesn’t need much convincing once you hear the hook. Two strangers meet by chance in a supermarket, fall into an intense relationship almost immediately, and then, 56 days later, homicide detectives walk into an apartment and find a brutally murdered, unidentified body. That’s the entire engine of the show, and it’s strong enough to carry all eight episodes. The erotic psychological thriller drops all eight episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 3:01 a.m. ET. You can binge the entire series with a 30-day free trial to Prime Video.

What’s ‘56 Days’ about?
“56 Days” follows Oliver and Ciara, two people who meet randomly and fall into a relationship that feels intense from the jump. There’s nothing slow or cautious about how they connect, and that immediacy becomes important as the story unfolds. Fifty-six days after they meet, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment and discover a body that’s been deliberately decomposed, with no clear indication of who the victim is or how they ended up there.
The series moves back and forth between a single day during the investigation and the earlier stages of Oliver and Ciara’s relationship, slowly filling in gaps and changing how you see both characters. The central question never really goes away: Did he kill her? Did she kill him? Or are both of them hiding something that hasn’t fully surfaced yet? It’s less about shocking twists and more about how perception shifts once you’ve got more context.
Who stars in ‘56 Days’?
Dove Cameron stars as Ciara Wyse, and Avan Jogia plays Oliver Kennedy. Their chemistry is central to the series as it’s their intense relationship that eventually leads to murder… though we don’t know how. Karla Souza and Dorian Missick play Lee Reardon and Karl Connolly, two officers trying to figure out who the victim is and who did it. That’s the core four of the cast.
Who’s behind ‘56 Days’?
The series is adapted from Catherine Ryan Howard’s bestselling novel and written by Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher, who also serve as executive producers. It comes from Atomic Monster, with James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett executive producing alongside Amazon MGM Studios. Catherine Ryan Howard also serves as a co-executive producer, which helps the adaptation stick close to the tone and structure that made the book work so well.

Is ‘56 Days’ based on a book?
Yep. “56 Days” is based on the novel of the same name by Catherine Ryan Howard. The book’s known for its dual-timeline structure and for withholding information just long enough to keep you second-guessing every assumption you make. The series follows that same approach, using time jumps and perspective shifts to build tension rather than relying on constant twists. It’s very much about trust, perception, and how little you can really know someone when a relationship moves too fast.
Will there be a Season 2 of ‘56 Days’?
Right now, “56 Days” is positioned as a limited series, and the source material tells a complete story with a defined ending. There’s no official word from Prime Video about a second season, and the show doesn’t need one to feel finished. That said, if the series breaks out and Prime Video wants to stay in the erotic-thriller space, it wouldn’t be surprising to see another season built around a new story or a different central relationship. For now, though, it’s best to think of this as a one-season binge designed to be watched straight through.
