About “Bad Sisters”
Developed by Sharon Horgan, Dave Finkel, and Brett Baer, the Irish black comedy-drama “Bad Sisters” stars Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, and Eve Hewson as the tight-knit Garvey sisters, Eva, Grace, Ursula, Bibi, and Becka. After Grace’s abusive, controlling husband, John Paul, dies unexpectedly, the sisters find themselves in the middle of a life insurance investigation. Throughout the story, the series flips back and forth between the past as Grace’s sisters plot to murder their brother and law and the present, as a determined agent tries to prove their involvement.
Season 2 takes place two years after the “accidental death” of Grace’s abusive husband, and while it seems the Garvey sisters may have moved on, secrets are revealed, past truths resurface, and suspicions are at an all-time high. New and returning cast include Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward, Michael Smiley, Saise Quinn, Daryl McCormack, Yasmine Akram, Jonjo O’Neill, Peter Claffey, and more.
The first season of the series, equal parts comedy and thriller, won the BAFTA Television Award for Best Drama Series and the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Duff, as well as a Peabody Award. It was nominated for four Emmys in the most recent ceremony, including an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Horgan.
The eight-episode second season will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Wednesday, November 13, followed by one episode weekly every Wednesday through Dec. 25.
