Meet the Duprees in the new soap opera ‘Beyond the Gates’
The show premiering Monday will be the first Black-centric, hourlong drama in daytime history.
In an era of cutbacks and cancelations, it is still surprising that one of the major broadcast channels is launching a new soap opera in today’s landscape. Nonetheless, on Monday, Feb. 24, CBS will premiere a new daytime drama called “Beyond the Gates.” The show will be the first soap centered on a Black family in over three decades as it tells the story of the powerful and influential Dupree family. The series premiere will air on Monday at 2 p.m. ET and will stream on Paramount+ the day after each episode airs. To catch every dramatic episode when it airs, I recommend watching with a subscription to Hulu + Live TV which comes with a three-day free trial.

Why we recommend Hulu + Live TV to watch ‘Beyond the Gates’
Fortunately for soap fans, there are numerous ways to stream the buzzy new daytime drama “Beyond the Gates.” Since it will be airing on CBS, most of the major the live TV streaming services will provide access to the show, but if you want to watch each new episode when it initially airs, I recommend watching on Hulu + Live TV for a few simple reasons.
First is the streamer’s standard three-day free trial. While not the longest in the industry, it should give you enough time to see what the new show is all about and whether or not it is worth subscribing to a new streaming service for.
The other reason is because of all of the similar content that it provides that you might also be interested in. Since Hulu + Live TV carries every major broadcast network in nearly every market across the country, you can not only livestream the other soaps on CBS, ABC, and NBC, but because the streamer comes with the Disney Bundle at no extra coast, you have Hulu for free and can watch episodes of “General Hospital” on demand.
In addition, Hulu also has popular night-time soaps like “Grey's Anatomy,” “Mistresses,” “Revenge,” and more. And with the Disney Bundle, you will also get the full Disney+ and ESPN+ streaming services for free as well. Hulu + Live TV subscriptions start at $83 per month, which is not cheap, but is in line with its major competitors.
Hulu Live TV
Hulu Live TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 70 channels for $89.99 per month. Hulu + Live TV base plan includes local channels 32 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). Subscribers get free access to Disney+ and ESPN Select at no extra charge.
Can you watch ‘Beyond the Gates’ for free?
Since “Beyond the Gates” will release roughly 250 episodes per year, there is no way to stream every single one for free, but there are multiple ways to at least watch the series premiere at no cost. As mentioned above, Hulu + Live TV offers a three-day free trial, which will allow you to check out the early episodes to get a feel for the new show.
If you are looking for the longest reliable trial, DIRECTV STREAM is your best bet. Its industry-leading trial runs for five days guaranteed.
Those are pretty straightforward, but when it comes to the sports-minded streamer Fubo, things can get a little complicated. As The Streamable’s expert David Satin discovered when signing up for the services, figuring out how long Fubo’s trial is — even as you are signing up — can be a bit difficult. Nonetheless, it will be at least one day, with the potential to be as many as seven, depending on a wide range of factors that Fubo does not share publicly.
The YouTube TV trial is said to be “up to two weeks,” but can be as short as two days. So it is difficult to ascertain what you are actually getting before you go through the signup process.
You can also watch with a one-week free trial to Paramount+. CBS’s sibling streamer has a pair of subscription options which I will run through in the next section, but you will be able to watch either live and/or on-demand, depending on which route you go.
