This docuseries takes viewers inside the busy port of St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Working in a port or harbor is one of the most labor-intensive jobs on the planet, and almost all of that work goes unnoticed. Day in and day out, men and women in the port of St. John’s, Newfoundland work to keep commercial fishing boats in operation, work on the harbor itself, and manage the logistics of one of the world’s busiest inlets. Their story is told in “East Harbor Heroes,” which premieres on Discovery starting at 10 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 24. There are plenty of ways to watch, but our favorite is with a subscription to Sling TV.

The North Atlantic Ocean is one of the most challenging work environments in the world. Gale-force winds, sea ice, huge waves, and devastating storms are just part of life here, but the people who work at the facilities in and around St. John’s that keep the port economy running have a crucial job to do either way.
“East Harbor Heroes” is a documentary series that follows the daily lives of these men and women, the work they do to keep their harbor open, and the challenges they face as they battle nature to maintain their livelihoods.
