MS NOW (formerly MSNBC) is a U.S.-based cable and satellite television network known for its 24/7 news coverage and political commentary. Launched on July 15, 1996, as a partnership between NBC News and Microsoft, the network shifted over time to focus on liberal-leaning opinion programming, with hosts such as Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes helping define its voice in the cable news landscape. Recently, MSNBC has begun building its own independent newsgathering operation as part of Comcast’s planned spin‑off of its cable‐news assets.
Popular shows on MS NOW include “Morning Joe,” “All In with Chris Hayes,” “The Rachel Maddow Show,” “The Briefing with Jen Psaki,” “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,” “Velshi,” and “Deadline: White House.” The primetime lineup was recently revamped with “The Weeknight,” featuring Alicia Menendez, Symone Sanders‑Townsend, and Michael Steele in the former 7 p.m. slot.
MS NOW is well known for its progressive commentary, editorial analysis, and in-depth political reporting. It is expanding its newsroom capabilities and building bureaus in Washington, D.C., and New York to support standalone coverage outside of NBC News.
Viewers can watch MS NOW through most traditional cable and satellite providers, where it is included in standard news packages. MS NOW is also available for streaming on Hulu + Live TV, Sling, Fubo, YouTube TV, and DIRECTV. Subscribers can stream live and on-demand episodes through the MS NOW app and website with a valid TV provider login.
MS NOW was formerly MSNBC, but rebranded to the new moniker on November 15, 2025. With its sustained focus on political news, policy analysis, and high-profile opinion programming, MS NOW remains a major destination for viewers seeking informed, liberal‑leaning coverage of current affairs.
