About “Kinds of Kindness”

“Kinds of Kindness” is the latest feature film from director and writer Yorgos Lanthimos (“Poor Things,” “The Favourite”), co-written with regular collaborator Efthimis Filippou (“The Lobster,” “Dogtooth,” “The Killing of a Sacred Deer”). Described as “a triptych fable,” the absurdist anthology includes three loosely connected stories (“The Death of R.M.F.,” “R.M.F. Is Flying,” “and R.M.F. Eats a Sandwich”) that tell of “a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life, a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person, and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”

“Poor Things” Oscar winner Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, and Willem Dafoe lead the cast, appearing in each of the three tales in characters ranging from a woman missing at sea to a sex cult leader. The anthology also features Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.

The film had its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival this past May, where Plemons won the Best Actor award for his performance, and was released in theaters on June 21.

Lanthimos will next release “Bugonia,” a remake of 2003’s “Save the Green Planet!.” The film, which will also star Stone and Plemons, is due out in November 2025.
