Brett Goldstein becomes a male escort in new rom-com ‘Escorted’

Brett Goldstein becomes a male escort in new rom-com ‘Escorted’

Goldstein is starring, writing and co-running the comedy alongside ‘Shrinking’ collaborator Brian Gallivan.

With a background in film and branded content, he covers sports and entertainment with sharp insight and creativity. A longtime Oilers fan, he’s still holding out hope for a Stanley Cup run.
There's no release date yet for when "Escorted" will drop on Prime Video.

Between “Ted Lasso” and “Shrinking,” Brett Goldstein is slowly cementing his name among the comedy greats. Here’s hoping his new show, “Escorted,” will help the cement dry. The eight-episode romantic comedy series for Prime Video will follow Goldstein as he plays a divorced dad who becomes… you guessed it, a male escort. There’s no release date yet, but some big names are already attached, and production is underway. Here’s everything you need to know about “Escorted.”

Everything you need to know about ‘Escorted’

When does ‘Escorted’ come out?

There’s no release date yet, but production has started, so we should get more info soon. We do know it’ll be streaming on Prime Video when it launches, and there will be eight episodes to rip through.

Can you watch ‘Escorted’ for free once it starts streaming?

Very likely yes, you’ll be able to stream “Escorted” for free. Prime Video offers new subscribers a 30-day free trial, so if that deal is still around when “Escorted” drops, you can watch for free. After that, you can get the service for just $9 per month with ads.

What is ‘Escorted’ about?

“Escorted” follows Denny, a divorced dad living in Manhattan who somehow accidentally becomes a male escort. How that happens “accidentally” is beyond me, but I’m sure Goldstein will have a very creative (and funny) answer. The rom-com series follows him as he tries to keep what he’s doing very separate from his parenting life, his dating life, and everything else he has going on. Details are scarce this early on, but more info should drip out as the show gets closer to release.

Who stars in ‘Escorted’?

Brett Goldstein plays Denny, with Deadline reporting that Lesley Manville will play his mother Terri, a larger-than-life cabaret legend described as a total force of nature. Leslie Bibb has also joined the cast, although we don’t know what her role is. Deadline also reports that Tuc Watkins will recur as Neil, a cowboy-looking trainer at a high-end gym who also happens to work as a male escort for wealthy women on the side. That could give Denny a mentor who can help him sort out his new line of work. And Alexandra Daddario has been spotted filming the series with Goldstein, but we don’t know in what capacity.

Who’s making ‘Escorted’?

Goldstein isn’t just starring. He’s writing, executive producing, and co-running “Escorted” with Brian Gallivan, his “Shrinking” collaborator. Goldstein has described it as a “wholesome show about condoms, co-parenting, and cosplay,” while Prime Video has called out the surprisingly tender relationship story underneath all the secrecy.
