It’s been a while since we saw Michael Keaton — the star of 1983’s “Mr. Mom” — learn to be a good parent. In the new movie “Goodrich,” which premieres on Max on Friday, Jan. 31, the iconic movie star is getting another chance at fatherhood… but he’s going to need some help. The movie stars Keaton as a father who is suddenly tasked with connecting with two nine year olds, which does not come naturally to him. About ‘Goodrich’
Andy Goodrich isn’t exactly the world’s greatest authority on being a father. He works too hard to spend enough time at home, and having nine-year-old twins at his age doesn’t exactly bring out his best instincts. That’s why, when his wife Naomi (played by Tony winner Laura Benanti) enters a 90-day rehab program, Andy beings to panic about his prospects of taking care of his kids successfully.
He turns to Grace (Mila Kunis), the daughter from his first marriage for support and information about raising children in the modern day. The two grow closer as he learns from Grace, but Andy also has to face the fact that his fatherhood skills were even more lacking during her adolescence. He begins to evolve as a parent, but he soon realizes that means being a better father to all his kids. Also featured in the cast are Michael Urie, Andi McDowell. Kevin Pollack, Carmen Ejogo, and more.
The movie was written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer, the daughter of famed filmmakers Charles Richard Shyer (“Father of the Bride,” “The Parent Trap”) and Nancy Meyers (“Father of the Bride,” “The Parent Trap,” “The Holiday”).
