The new series “It’s Not Like That” is coming to Prime Video on Friday, May 15, and this sounds like the kind of family drama that could very easily sneak up on people. Scott Foley plays Malcolm, a recently widowed pastor and dad of three who’s trying to figure out what life looks like now. Erinn Hayes plays Lori, a newly divorced mom with two teens who’s also stepping into a totally new chapter. Their families used to do everything together, but now Malcolm and Lori are both single, both parenting, and both maybe starting to feel something they’re definitely not ready to call romantic. Here’s how to watch “It’s Not Like That” on Prime Video.

What is ‘It’s Not Like That’ about?

“It’s Not Like That” follows Malcolm, played by Scott Foley, a pastor who’s recently widowed and raising three kids on his own — not easy. Then there’s Lori, played by Erinn Hayes, who’s newly divorced and trying to keep life moving with two teens of her own.

The hook is that these two families already have a history. They used to do everything together, which makes this new phase even messier. Malcolm and Lori aren’t strangers meeting cute in a coffee shop — they’re two people who already know each other, already have kids tangled into the same orbit, and are now trying to navigate grief, divorce, parenting, loneliness, and whatever comes next. And of course, there’s the big question hanging over the whole thing: is this turning into a love story? The title says no. The premise says… maybe don’t be so sure.
