Here's everything to know about the Jack Ryan movie

John Krasinski is suiting up again as Jack Ryan, and the new movie from Amazon MGM Studios is shaping up to be the next big chapter for the “Ryanverse.” The four-season Prime Video series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” was one of the streamer’s biggest hits, so a movie felt like the natural next move. Now it’s officially happening, the cast is stacked, and a bunch of familiar names from the show are coming back behind the camera, too. Here’s everything we know so far.

Everything you need to know about the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie:

Does the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie have a release date?

Not yet. The studio hasn’t shared a date, as the movie just started filming this year. We should have a better idea soon, though, about when the movie might land. For now, there’s no timeline for theaters or streaming.

Can you watch the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie for free once it starts streaming?

You might be able to. Prime Video offers a 30-day free trial for new users, so if you time it right, you can watch the movie without paying. After your trial ends, plans start at $9 per month with ads or $12 per month ad-free. The trial gives you plenty of room to watch the movie and explore everything else on Prime Video before you commit.

Will the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie be in theaters or on streaming?

We don’t know yet. Amazon MGM Studios hasn’t said whether they’re planning a full theatrical release or a straight-to-Prime Video debut. The studio has gone both ways recently, so either option makes sense. If it pops up in theaters first, expect it to hit Prime Video after the usual window. If it skips theaters, it’ll stream only on Prime Video from day one.

Prime Video offers a 30-day free trial.

What is the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie about?

The plot is still under wraps, but we do know a few things. First, John Krasinski is back as Jack Ryan, the Marine-turned-CIA analyst who keeps getting pulled into global crises. The “TV series” follows him through international conspiracies and high-stakes missions, and the movie will keep building on that world.

This is one key plot detail that’s confirmed. Jack will partner with a top MI6 agent. That alone tells us the threat is big, messy, and spread across borders. It also means the movie is diving even deeper into U.S. and U.K. intelligence work than the show ever did.

Who stars in the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie?

The cast is already coming together. John Krasinski is leading the movie again as Jack Ryan. Sienna Miller has joined as an MI6 agent who’ll work closely with him, though her character name hasn’t been revealed yet. Two fan favorites from the series are heading back too: Wendell Pierce returns as James Grier, and Michael Kelly is in final talks to return as Mike November. There are new additions as well. Max Beesley, Douglas Hodge, JJ Feild, and Betty Gabriel are all on board. Gabriel also appeared in Seasons 3 and 4 of the show, so that gives the movie another thread back to the series.

Who is making the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie?

Amazon is keeping things consistent by bringing back some of the show’s biggest creative voices. Andrew Bernstein, who directed and produced Season 2, is directing the movie. The script comes from Aaron Rabin, who helped write and produce Season 4. Krasinski and Allyson Seeger are producing for Sunday Night, alongside Andrew Form, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, John Kelly, and Carlton Cuse.

Is there a trailer for the new ‘Jack Ryan’ movie?

No trailer yet, but we should get some first-look images in the next little while as physical production has already started. Either way, expect Amazon to drop a first look or teaser when the time is right.

How can you catch up on the ‘Jack Ryan’ TV series before the movie?

If you want a refresher, all four seasons of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” are streaming on Prime Video. The show tracks Jack’s journey from desk job to full-on field operative, with globe-hopping missions, political twists, and a ton of action.
