Can you watch episodes of ‘Lucky’ for free?
Yep, you can watch for free. Apple TV offers a seven-day free trial for new users, so you could check out the first couple of episodes without paying if you time it right. After that, you’ll need a subscription. The service costs $13 per month and keeps things simple with one main plan. You could also wait until all seven episodes are out and binge the whole thing during the free trial, but with a twisty heist thriller like this, spoilers could become a problem pretty fast.
Apple TV
Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

What is ‘Lucky’ about?
“Lucky” follows Lucky, a con artist played by Anya Taylor-Joy, who is forced to run for her life after a multimillion-dollar heist goes very wrong. That alone is enough to get my attention, but the show adds another layer of pressure because Lucky isn’t just trying to dodge one enemy — she’s being chased by the FBI and a ruthless crime boss at the same time.
So the question becomes pretty simple: how does someone who has spent her life manipulating people, reading rooms, and staying one step ahead survive when everyone is finally closing in? That’s the fun of a setup like this. It’s a crime thriller, sure, but it also sounds like the kind of show where every relationship could be a lie, every escape plan could collapse, and every new ally could turn into the next problem.

Who stars in ‘Lucky’?
Anya Taylor-Joy leads the series as Lucky and also serves as an executive producer, which makes this feel like a real star vehicle for her. The ensemble is stacked, too: Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner also star in the series. Apple TV hasn’t revealed every character detail, but with this cast, the show clearly isn’t just building a simple chase story around Lucky. It’s putting her in a world full of people who can either help her escape or make everything much worse.
Who is making ‘Lucky’?
“Lucky” comes from Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, the company behind Apple TV’s “The Morning Show.” Jonathan Tropper created the series and serves as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer through his Tropper Ink banner under his overall deal with Apple TV. That has my attention too, because Tropper is also the creator of one of my other favorite shows on TV right now, “Your Friends & Neighbors.” Cassie Pappas serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside him.
Is ‘Lucky’ based on a book?
Yep, “Lucky” is based on Marissa Stapley’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, which was also a Reese’s Book Club pick. That part matters because this isn’t just a random heist premise. The story already has a built-in audience and a book-club pedigree, which explains why Hello Sunshine is involved.
