About ‘A Man on the Inside’
“A Man on the Inside” draws inspiration from the 2020 Oscar-nominated documentary “The Mole Agent,” which follows an elderly man who goes undercover in a nursing home to investigate claims of mistreatment.
Mike Schur’s series reimagines this concept as a comedy, with Ted Danson’s character, Charles, stepping into the role of an undercover operative at Pacific View Retirement Residence in San Francisco—not to expose wrongdoing but to solve a mysterious theft… and goes on to find new purpose in his life.
The show features an ensemble of heavy hitters, starting with Ted Danson as Charles who is investigating the disappearance of a resident’s family heirloom at a retirement home. Mary Elizabeth Ellis plays Emily, Charles’s daughter, while Stephanie Beatriz plays Didi, the sharp and observant managing director of the Pacific View Retirement Residence. Lilah Richcreek Estrada takes on the role of Julie, a private investigator who hires Charles for the mission, posing as his daughter to maintain the cover.
