‘Reacher’ Season 5 will adapt a fan-favorite Lee Child book
Season 5 is already in production, with Reacher heading to the mysterious town of Mother’s Rest.
“Reacher” Season 5 is already happening, and honestly, that’s not a huge surprise. Jack Reacher has become one of Prime Video’s biggest hits, and there’s still a whole lot of Lee Child’s world left to explore. Season 4 arrives Wednesday, Aug. 12, but Prime Video already knows where Reacher is headed next. This time, he’s leaving the events of “Gone Tomorrow” behind and heading into one of the darkest mysteries in the book series. Here’s everything you need to know about “Reacher” Season 5.
Everything you need to know about ‘Reacher’ Season 5
When does ‘Reacher’ Season 5 come out?
Prime Video hasn’t announced an official release date for “Reacher” Season 5 yet, but production is already underway. Season 5 is expected to arrive after Season 4, which premieres Wednesday, Aug. 12, and there’s a good chance we’ll have a much clearer idea of the timeline once filming wraps.
The good news is fans shouldn’t have to worry about whether Reacher is coming back. Prime Video renewed the series for Season 5 before Season 4 even premiered, which shows just how much confidence the streamer has in Jack Reacher’s next adventure.
Can you watch ‘Reacher’ Season 5 for free once it starts streaming?
Probably! Prime Video currently gives new Amazon Prime members a 30-day free trial, so if that’s still available when “Reacher” Season 5 premieres, you should be able to start watching without paying right away. Prime Video is also included with a regular Amazon Prime membership, which is how I get it, or you can subscribe on its own for $9 per month with ads.
Prime Video
Prime Video is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 10,000+ movies, TV shows, and Prime Originals like “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” “Jack Ryan,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “The Boys,” and more. Subscribers can also add third-party services like Max, Showtime, STARZ, and dozens more with Prime Video Channels. Prime Video also offers exclusive live access to NFL Thursday Night Football.
Which book is ‘Reacher’ Season 5 based on?
“Reacher” Season 5 is based on Lee Child’s “Make Me,” the 20th book in the Jack Reacher series. Like most of the books, it works as its own standalone story, so you don’t need to read the series in order to understand what’s happening.
The Prime Video show has already jumped around the book timeline. Season 4 is based on the 13th novel, “Gone Tomorrow,” while Season 5 jumps ahead to “Make Me.” That’s actually part of what makes the series work so well. Each season gets to drop Reacher into a completely different place with a completely different problem.
What is ‘Reacher’ Season 5 about?
“Reacher” Season 5 follows Jack Reacher as he arrives in the small Midwestern town of Mother’s Rest. The name immediately catches his attention, and when the town starts feeling a little off, Reacher does what Reacher does best: he starts asking questions.
He eventually teams up with Michelle Chang, a former FBI agent searching for her missing private investigator partner. Together, they uncover a much bigger mystery hiding underneath the surface of this seemingly quiet town. It’s another standalone Reacher adventure, but this one looks like it could push him into some seriously dark territory.
Who stars in ‘Reacher’ Season 5?
Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher for Season 5. The new season also adds Amanda Ip as Michelle Chang, Jay Baruchel as Chief Buck Bauer, Ciara Bravo as Eunice, and Kevin Durand as Nokes.
Ritchson has become one of the biggest reasons the series works. He brings the physical side of Reacher, but also the dry humor and detective instincts that make the character more than just a guy who walks into a room and punches everyone in it.
Reacher
Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator, has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served.
