Why do we recommend Apple TV for watching ‘Sugar’ Season 2?
Because it’s the only place you can watch it. “Sugar” is an Apple TV original series, so you’ll need access to Apple TV if you want to stream Season 2 when it premieres. The good news is that if you missed Season 1, the complete first season is already streaming, so you can catch up before the new episodes arrive.
And while you’re there, Apple TV has become one of the best streamers for slick, grown-up thrillers and dramas. If “Sugar” is your thing, you’ll probably also find plenty to like with shows like “Slow Horses,” “Hijack,” “Silo,” and “Severance.” It’s not the biggest library in the world, but the hit rate is pretty ridiculous.
Can you watch episodes of ‘Sugar’ Season 2 for free?
Yep. If you’ve never subscribed before, you can watch with a seven-day free trial of Apple TV. That’s enough time to watch the Season 2 premiere of “Sugar” and see if you’re back in for another noir-soaked mystery with Colin Farrell.
Just know that since Season 2 is rolling out weekly, you won’t be able to watch the whole season during one free trial when it first premieres. If you want to follow the full eight-episode run as it drops, you’ll need to stick around through the finale on Friday, Aug. 7.
Apple TV
Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

What is ‘Sugar’ Season 2 about?
“Sugar” Season 2 brings Colin Farrell back as John Sugar, the Los Angeles private detective who loves old movies almost as much as he loves chasing the truth. This time, Sugar takes on a new missing persons case involving the older brother of a rising local boxer. That already sounds like a clean detective-story hook, but as Sugar digs deeper, the case starts expanding into a much larger conspiracy with some seriously dark intentions.
At the same time, Sugar is still searching for his beloved missing sister, which gives the season a personal edge right from the jump. So while there’s a new case driving the story, it doesn’t sound like the show is letting him off easy emotionally. Season 2 seems to be asking how far Sugar is willing to go to do the right thing, especially when the line between justice and obsession starts getting blurry.
Sugar
John Sugar is a dashing private eye navigating the dark corners of sunny LA. Though he sees only the good in humanity, Sugar is haunted by a secret too dangerous to expose.
