It wasn’t too long ago that my wife and I binged “Deadwood” (late to the party, I know) and were left wanting more once we finished the series and the final movie installment. Both “1888” and “1923” filled a bit of that void while we cruised through some other series, but nothing has scratched the itch for more old-west excitement. Enter Netflix with the upcoming Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson-led drama, “The Abandons”.

The cinematic drama sees the age-old battle of the “haves” and “have-nots” with Constance Van Ness (Anderson) looking down on Fiona Nolan (Headey) with all of the expected action, tears, and romance you’d expect. Ryan Hurst, Nichiel Huisman, and Lucas Till round out the stellar cast of what looks to be another instant hit for Netflix.

“The Abandons” is set to premiere next month on December 4th, 2025, but you can wet your appetite with the official trailer before the action starts.

In 1850s Washington, two families led by powerful matriarchs — one wealthy, one poor but deeply loyal — battle for supremacy on the lawless frontier.
