What is ‘The Bluff’ about?
At its core, “The Bluff” is about a woman who thought she left her past behind and quickly realizes she didn’t. Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, a former pirate who’s carved out a quiet life in the Cayman Islands with her husband T.H. and their young son. That peace gets shattered when her former captain, Connor, shows up looking for revenge. Forced back into a violent world she tried to escape, Ercell has to rely on lethal swordsmanship, traps, and sheer will to protect her family. It’s an action-heavy survival story, but the emotional core is about motherhood, redemption, and reclaiming control over who you are when the past won’t let go.
Who stars in ‘The Bluff’?
The cast is tight and very focused on the central conflict. Priyanka Chopra Jonas leads the film as Ercell, and this is a fully physical performance built around combat and endurance. Karl Urban plays Connor, her former captain and the film’s primary threat. Ismael Cruz Cordova stars as T.H., Ercell’s husband, with Vedanten Naidoo playing their son Isaac. Safia Oakley-Green rounds out the core cast as Elizabeth, Ercell’s sister-in-law.
Who is making ‘The Bluff’?
The film is directed by Frank E. Flowers, who co-wrote the script with Joe Ballarini. It’s produced by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, which gives you a sense of the scale and seriousness behind the project. The movie was shot in the Cayman Islands and makes heavy use of real locations like Skull Cave and the island’s towering bluffs, giving it a grounded, tactile feel instead of something overly polished or CG-heavy.
