Tim Robinson’s new show ‘The Chair Company’ is finally here on HBO Max
The eight-episode HBO Original comedy series stars Robinson alongside Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
There’s really no one doing comedy quite like Tim Robinson. His new HBO Original series “The Chair Company” takes all the wild, chaotic energy you know him for and drops it into a full-blown conspiracy. Co-created with his longtime writing partner Zach Kanin (the two behind “I Think You Should Leave”), the show follows William Ronald Trosper, a guy whose life falls apart after one painfully embarrassing work incident. From there, he starts digging into something much bigger and way weirder than anyone expected. The show premieres Sunday, Oct. 12, at 10 p.m. ET on HBO and streams on HBO Max.

Everything you need to know about ‘The Chair Company’
What time will the comedy series ‘The Chair Company’ become available?
“The Chair Company” premieres Sunday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max at the same time. The first season has eight episodes total, dropping weekly through the finale on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Why do we recommend HBO Max for watching ‘The Chair Company’?
HBO Max is the only place to stream “The Chair Company” when it premieres. Plans start at $10 per month with ads, $17 per month for ad-free streaming, or $21 per month for the Ultimate Ad-Free tier, which gets you 4K video and streaming on up to four devices. You’ll also find plenty of other great comedies that match the same chaotic, fearless energy that makes this show stand out (more on those below).
Can you watch ‘The Chair Company’ for free?
Right now, HBO Max doesn’t offer a free trial, so you’ll need a paid plan to stream “The Chair Company.” Since episodes drop weekly, you can grab one month to cover the second half of the season and watch the previous eps before catching the November finale live.
HBO Max
HBO Max is a subscription video streaming service that gives access to the full HBO library and exclusive Max Originals. There are hubs for content from TLC, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery, TCM, Cartoon Network, Travel Channel, ID, and more. Watch hit series like “The Last of Us,” “House of the Dragon,” “Succession,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and more. Within HBO Max, B/R Sports allows users to watch live NBA, MLB, NHL, March Madness, and NASCAR events.
What is ‘The Chair Company’ about?
In “The Chair Company,” Tim Robinson stars as William Ronald Trosper, a middle manager who spirals after a humiliating workplace moment. As he tries to move on, he stumbles into what might be a massive corporate conspiracy… or maybe he’s just losing it? Either way, it’s ridiculous in the best possible way. Created by Robinson and Zach Kanin, the show brings the same awkward, uncomfortable laughs that made “I Think You Should Leave” such a cult hit, but gives it more story and heart. And if you caught Robinson’s A24 film “Friendship,” you’ll recognize the same mix of absurdity, heart, and emotional chaos, only now stretched into an eight-part series.

What other comedies can you watch on HBO Max?
If “The Chair Company” hits your sweet spot for weird, character-driven comedy, there are a few other must-watch shows waiting for you on HBO Max. Start with one of my all-time favorite shows, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Larry David’s classic about turning small social missteps into full-on disasters. It’s got the same energy of watching someone dig a hole they absolutely can’t stop digging.
Next up is “The Comeback,” starring Lisa Kudrow as a washed-up sitcom star desperate to reclaim her fame. It’s both hilarious and brutal in how real it feels, and Kudrow is incredible.
And don’t sleep on “Flight of the Conchords,” a musical comedy about two New Zealand musicians trying to make it in New York. It’s awkward, endearing, and full of songs that will be stuck in your head for weeks.
