What is ‘The Diplomat’ Season 4 about?
Spoiler Alert. There are spoilers below for previous seasons of ‘The Diplomat.’
“The Diplomat” Season 4 picks up with Kate and Hal’s marriage in a very weird place. Grace Penn is now president, Hal is vice president, and Kate starts to realize Hal may have double-crossed her with Grace. At the same time, Todd Penn has noticed just how close Grace and Hal are getting. So the season basically locks Kate, Hal, Grace, and Todd into one increasingly messy political/marital dynamic that is bound to come to a head at some point.
There’s also a much bigger international problem. Something massive shatters the fragile peace Kate built between the U.S. and U.K., while Grace and Hal’s plan to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon risks pushing the United States toward war. That leaves Kate and Todd, not exactly natural allies, working together to stop the Grace-Hal partnership from blowing up the balance of power both abroad and at home.
Who’s in the cast of ‘The Diplomat’ Season 4?
Keri Russell returns as Ambassador Kate Wyler, with Rufus Sewell back as her husband, Hal Wyler, who is now vice president. Allison Janney returns as President Grace Penn (she’s perfect), and Bradley Whitford is back as First Gentleman Todd Penn. Both have been promoted to series regulars for Season 4, so you’ll see a lot of them. Nana Mensah has also been bumped up to series regular as White House Chief of Staff Billie Appiah.
