This season, 12 new amateurs will compete across 10 weeks of increasingly ambitious bakes, and all of the gentle chaos that has made the series one of television’s most comforting traditions. What you need to know about ‘The Great British Baking Show’ Collection 14?
“The Great British Baking Show” returns to its familiar white tent with 12 new amateur bakers hoping to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson through 10 weeks of cakes, breads, biscuits, pastries, and whatever exotic baking themes the production can come up with.
Each week, the bakers will face three challenges. The Signature gives them an opportunity to put their own spin on a familiar bake, the Technical asks them to recreate a recipe with very little instruction, and the Showstopper requires them to create something elaborate enough that you will inevitably wonder how any normal person could possibly make it in the allotted time.
One baker will earn the title of Star Baker each week, while another will be sent home until just three remain for the finale. But, as always, the competition is only part of what makes the series special. “The Great British Baking Show” remains one of the rare reality competitions where contestants seem genuinely happy to help each other, judges can be critical without being cruel, and a tray of slightly underbaked biscuits can somehow feel like the most important thing happening in the world for 60 minutes.
Collection 14 will look slightly different behind the judging table, as Lawson joins the series following Prue Leith’s departure after nine seasons. Lawson will judge alongside Paul Hollywood, who has been with the franchise since its very first season. Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond will once again serve as hosts, providing moral support, questionable jokes, and exactly the sort of distractions that every baker needs when they have 37 seconds left to finish decorating an eight-layer cake.
