Jennifer Garner is back in ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Season 2
Nearly three years after the series premiered, this thriller is back, just six weeks after the sequel novel was published.
Nearly three years after “The Last Thing He Told Me” premiered on Apple TV, the Jennifer Garner-led thriller series is finally set to return in February. The first season was based on Laura Dave’s novel of the same name, while the second season is based on the follow-up novel “The First Time I Saw Him,” which was released in early January 2026. The eight-episode second season will premiere on Feb. 20, and we are here to break down everything we know about the mystery series, including a trailer and a slew of first-look images.
Everything you need to know about ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Season 2
When will episodes of ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Season 2 stream on Apple TV?
As of the writing of this article, Apple has only revealed that the Season 2 premiere will stream on Friday, Feb. 20, beginning just after midnight at 12:01 a.m. ET. In Season 1, the streamer dropped two episodes on the premiere date, but there is no guarantee that Apple TV will do that again now that the series has become a hit.
With one more episode in the second season than the first (eight vs. seven), if the streamer does release episodes weekly, that means that the season finale will likely air on Friday, April 10. Of course, if Apple decides to double up on any of the drops, the finale could air earlier.
Can you watch episodes of ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Season 2 for free?
New customers can definitely check out the first episode of the season for free (or the first two if they time it properly) thanks to Apple TV’s seven-day free trial. Other customers, who have recently bought some sort of Apple product, might also have access to longer trials, but the standard for signing up for the streamer on its own is one week.
If you want to watch the season weekly, as new episodes become available, after your free trial, you will need to sign up for a subscription. Apple TV currently only has one sign-up option, which runs $13 per month. This plan is ad-free and comes with access to the entire library of Apple’s acclaimed series and growing list of films.
However, if you can wait until mid-April, you will be able to binge the entire second season using the seven-day trial, after all of the episodes have dropped.
Apple TV
Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Is ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Season 2 based on a book?
The premiere of “The Last Thing He Told Me” Season 2 comes just six and a half weeks after Laura Dave’s novel “The First Time I Saw Him” was released. While the novel version of “The Last Thing He Told Me” had been a best-seller for a few years before the show dropped, this follow-up season does not have nearly enough time to build up a fandom of its own.
However, with the sequel book as its backbone, Dave and her series co-creator Josh Singer were able to formulate a new chapter in Hannah and Bailey’s story from the ground up that works both on the page and on screen.
You can purchase your copy of “The First Time I Saw Him” here, so you can read the book before Season 2 of the series premieres.
