Everything you need to know about ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’
When will ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ come out on Prime Video?
“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War” premieres globally on Prime Video on Wednesday, May 20. Since this is a movie, you won’t have to wait week to week for new episodes. You can just hit play and settle in for the whole new Jack Ryan mission at once.
Why do we recommend Prime Video for watching ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’?
Because that’s where “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War” is streaming. The movie is part of the same universe as Prime Video’s “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” which ran for four seasons and starred John Krasinski as the CIA analyst turned action hero.
The nice thing here is that “Ghost War” looks like a pretty easy place to jump back in, even if you haven’t watched every episode of the show. Sure, returning fans will get more out of seeing Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, and Betty Gabriel back in the mix. But this also seems built like a clean, standalone spy thriller, with Ryan getting pulled into a new mission involving a dangerous rogue group, a new MI6 partner, and a threat big enough to drag him out of retirement.
Can you watch ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ for free?
Yep, you probably can watch for free on Prime Video. The service offers a 30-day free trial for new subscribers, so if you haven’t signed up before, that’s the way to watch “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War” for free. After that, Prime Video starts at $9 per month as a standalone service, or you can get it as part of a full Amazon Prime membership, as I do.

What is ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ about?
“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War” brings John Krasinski back as Jack Ryan, the CIA analyst who never seems to stay behind a desk for very long. This time, Ryan has stepped away from the spy business, but obviously, that peace doesn’t last. He gets pulled back in when a rogue group becomes a major threat.
To stop them, Ryan teams up with Emma Marlowe, an MI6 operative played by Sienna Miller. That pairing gives the movie a fun international-spy energy, especially with the action moving through New York City, London, and Dubai. The trailer teases car chases, shoot-outs, and a scale that feels much closer to a Bourne or Bond movie than a regular TV episode. Wendell Pierce also returns as James Greer, with Michael Kelly back as Mike November and Betty Gabriel returning as Elizabeth Wright. So yes, the old crew is involved, but “Ghost War” still looks like it’s designed to work even if you just want a slick spy movie without doing a full four-season rewatch first.
