Kaley Cuoco’s new show, ‘Vanished’ turns a Paris trip into a nightmare
The four-episode MGM+ thriller follows a woman whose boyfriend disappears without a trace.
If there’s one thing Kaley Cuoco has built her brand around post “The Big Bang Theory,” it’s mystery thrillers where nothing is what it seems to be. After shows like “The Flight Attendant” and “Based on a True Story,” she’s back with “Vanished.” This MGM+ thriller finds her on a romantic trip to Paris, when suddenly her partner disappears. The four-episode series stars Cuoco and Sam Claflin and premieres Sunday, Feb. 1 at 9 p.m. E.T. You can check out the premiere with a seven-day free trial to MGM+.

What’s ‘Vanished’ about?
“Vanished” follows Alice, played by Kaley Cuoco, who’s on a romantic trip to Paris with her boyfriend Tom, played by Sam Claflin. Their vacation takes a dark turn when Tom disappears during a train journey to the south of France. One moment, he’s there. The next, he’s not. And nobody can explain how or why. What starts as a desperate search quickly turns into something much more dangerous.
As Alice tries to piece together what happened, she begins uncovering secrets that suggest Tom may not have been the person she thought she knew. The series tracks her search across France as every new answer raises bigger questions.
Who stars in ‘Vanished’?
Alongside Cuoco and Claflin, “Vanished” features a strong supporting cast that adds a grounded, European feel to the story. That includes Karin Viard, Matthias Schweighöfer, Simon Abkarian, and Dar Zuzovsky. It’s not an oversized ensemble, which fits the show’s tight four-episode structure.
Who created ‘Vanished’?
The series was created by David Hilton and Preston Thompson, with Thompson also writing the episodes. Direction comes from Barnaby Thompson. Cuoco also serves as an executive producer, which makes sense given how much of the show rests on Alice’s perspective and emotional arc. The series was filmed in and around Paris and Marseille, and the locations should do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to atmosphere.
Is ‘Vanished’ based on a book?
No. “Vanished” is an original series created specifically for TV by David Hilton and Preston Thompson. It’s not based on a novel or existing IP, which actually works in its favor here. With only four episodes, the story feels tightly controlled and designed to play straight through without having to stretch or rework source material.
Will there be a Season 2 of ‘Vanished’?
Probably not. “Vanished” is a four-episode series, and everything about its setup suggests it’s telling a complete, self-contained story. There’s been no talk of a second season, and with such a tight episode count, this feels designed to have a clear beginning, middle, and end. That’s part of the appeal. You’re getting a focused mystery that plays out fast, answers its questions, and doesn’t drag things out just to keep the story alive.
