Relive the terror of the new millienium in ‘Y2K’
A24’s newest streaming release is a horror comedy which revives the fears surrounding the Y2K virus in some pretty off-the-wall ways.
In reality, the Y2K virus turned out to be nothing but a big fizzle. But those who didn’t live through it might not be aware of the hysteria the so-called virus created, and they can get a taste of it in “Y2K,” the new A24 movie that arrives on Max on Friday, April 4 — a mere two weeks after The Streamable predicted it would arrive. The film imagines New Year’s Eve 1999 as a night of horrors when electronics come to life and begin to slay their human owners. The only way to stream the gruesome and giggle-inducing film is with a subscription to Max.
