Will Tubi have the same Super Bowl commercials as Fox?
Will Tubi have the same Super Bowl commercials as Fox?
Super Bowl ads are a huge part of the Big Game experience for many fans, and we’ll let you know if the ad experience will be the same on TV and streaming!
The last NFL game of the season is coming up this weekend, and as always, the league has saved the best for last. Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans is set for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff time on Sunday, Feb. 9. The Big Game will be played on Fox, and will also stream on the free ad-supported service Tubi. But fans who stream the game on Tubi get to watch all the same commercials that will appear on the regular TV broadcast? We got an answer straight from the source!
Key Details:
- Super Bowl LIX commercials shown on Fox will also appear on Tubi.
- Tubi will stream the Big Game in UHD 4K for free this year.
- Super Bowl ads could get even more expensive as streaming becomes more prevalent.
Because Tubi is an ad-supported streaming service, it makes sense that some fans might fear they won’t see the same commercials on the streamer as they will be watching the main broadcast on Fox. We asked Tubi’s VP of communications and publicity, Seana Sullivan, about it and got an encouraging answer for fans of Super Bowl ads.
“It’s the same ad inventory as on the FOX feed, but Super Bowl advertisers will benefit from extended reach for their campaigns through the Tubi audience,” Sullivan said.
So, fans of Super Bowl commercials don’t have to worry about missing out on an iconic Super Bowl commercial by streaming the game on Tubi instead of watching on Fox. Will we see an ad as iconic as 1995’s Budweiser frogs or the ETrade baby this year? Hard to say, but you’ll be able to find out for yourself no matter which medium you use.
Tubi doesn’t offer a big lineup of live sports events, but it was the best choice Fox could have made to offer a streaming alternative to this year’s Super Bowl broadcast. Its only other option would have been to stream the game on Fox Nation, which is more of a conservative news and lifestyle streaming service and less of a fit for a major sports event like the Super Bowl.
It’s unknown if companies have to pay more to see their ads streamed on Tubi and shown on TV, but that could be a factor in future Super Bowls. Viewers want to see the same commercials on TV and on streaming, and firms that want to see their products advertised in both places might have to pony up a little more to make it happen.
Tubi
Tubi is a free video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 200,000+ movies and TV episodes - more than any other streaming service. Its ad breaks are shorter and less frequent than most free services. Fox executives have called their service “TV on steroids.”
