Is ‘Napoleon’ Available to Stream Now? When Will it Come to Apple TV+?

Ridley Scott’s new historical epic is entering theaters this weekend, but when will it be invading Apple TV+?

Napoleon the Conqueror is invading a cinema near you this weekend! Ridley Scott’s sweeping historical drama “Napoleon” starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular French emperor saw its official wide release on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

The movie centers on Napoleon’s initial rise to power, from humble origins to successful army officer to ruler of half the world. Viewed through the prism of his tumultuous, passionate relationship with his wife Josephine, Napoleon’s rule is shown in great detail, from his victories in Egypt to his retreat from Moscow to his ultimate defeat at Waterloo.

Critics have praised the performances and epic battle scenes of “Napoleon,” which currently sits at a score of 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. The most controversial aspect of the film (outside of France) is its 2-hour and 38-minute runtime, which may prompt some viewers to get nervous about needing a bathroom break.

Where Will ‘Napoleon’ Stream When It Leaves Theaters?

Napoleon is coming to Apple TV+ at some point once it leaves movie theaters.

That long runtime might have you hoping that “Napoleon” is available to stream, particularly as its been produced and distributed in part by Apple. Unfortunately for those without bladders of steel, “Napoleon” is only available to watch in theaters for the present.

The good news is, Apple serving as a producing and distribution partner for the film makes it quite easy to determine where it will stream. “Napoleon” will head to Apple TV+ once it leaves theaters and ends its exclusive availability on transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) rental and purchase platforms like Prime Video and iTunes.

When Will ‘Napoleon’ Be Available to Stream?

Without official word from Apple, it’s impossible to know the precise date that “Napoleon” will head to streaming. Most Apple Original films like “Tetris” have been released directly to streaming, but another historical epic from Apple — “Killers of the Flower Moon” — was also recently put in theaters instead of making its debut on Apple TV+.

The Streamable predicted that “Killers of the Flower Moon” would bow on Apple TV+ around the first week of December, 45 days after its initial release. That same prediction seems reasonable for “Napoleon,” so Apple TV+ users should be on the lookout for it in the second week of January, on or around Monday the 8th. If the movie smashes box office expectations, however, it could see a longer stay in theaters.
