Is ‘One of Them Days’ on Netflix now? When will it stream?
The new buddy comedy movie starring Keke Palmer and SZA is coming to theaters on Jan. 17. What about streaming?
Have you ever had a day where nothing seems to go right, no matter how many plans you had? Keke Palmer and SZA know that feeling all too well in “One of Them Days,” the new comedy movie from Sony that will arrive in theaters officially on Jan. 17. When will it be available to stream? We’ll give our thoughts on that below!
Key Details:
- “One of Them Days” has gotten rave reviews from critics and preview audiences alike.
- The movie is being distributed by Sony, so will stream on Netflix.
- Sony typically gives its movies extended theatrical windows to maximize their earnings.
Watch a trailer for “One of Them Days”
“One of Them Days” follows a pair of best friends and roommates named Alyssa and Dreux. When they find out that Alyssa’s boyfriend has squandered their rent money, the pair must race against the clock to come up with the cash before the day ends — all while keeping their friendship together.
As per Rotten Tomatoes scores, “One of Them Days” is one of the best new movies of the young year. It’s got a 96% score from critics so far, to go along with a 94% rating from viewers who have seen preview screenings.
When will ‘One of Them Days’ stream on Netflix?
“One of Them Days” is a theatrical exclusive for now. It will come to premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms like Prime Video in the next few weeks, but you’ll have to pay around $30 to buy the digital copy. If you want to wait and stream the movie with a subscription, you’ll want to make sure your Netflix subscription is up-to-date, since that’s the streamer that holds the rights to “One of Them Days.”
Sony’s position as something of a content arms dealer means it usually likes to give its movies as much time in theaters and on PVOD sites as possible, in order to make the most revenue possible from them. “Venom: The Last Dance,” for example, doesn’t have a Netflix release date yet, despite having been released in theaters 84 days ago as of the time of this writing.
Bad reviews don’t seem to have any effect on Sony movie release windows, as the 90-day period for “Madame Web” and the 159-day one for “Morbius” make clear. Given that “One of Them Days” has gotten great reviews so far, I expect a longer window for it as well.
I’ll officially predict that “One of Them Days” will stay in theaters and on PVOD platforms for 119 days before reaching Netflix. If that is borne out, the movie will arrive on the streamer on Friday, May 16. Once it’s been on Netflix for 18 months, it will switch to a Disney-owned streamer, most likely to be Hulu in this case.
