Anderson Silva joins for Jake Paul vs. Tank Davis Netflix card
Anderson Silva joins for Jake Paul vs. Tank Davis Netflix card
The Netflix throwdown has drawn Anderson Silva back to boxing for the first time since 2022.
Netflix’s desire to host only the kind of live sports it can turn into major viewing events aligns perfectly with boxing matches, which have long been spotlight television viewing and often feature giant, marketable names. The next boxing night Netflix has scheduled is the perfect example; the main event will see Jake Paul fight Tank Davis in Paul’s second bout on the streamer, and now Netflix has unveiled the other fights slated to appear on the evening’s card.
Key Details:
- Coming up soon: The Paul vs. Davis fight is coming to Netflix in less than a month.
- He’s back: Anderson Silva will return to boxing to fight Chris Weidman.
- More title fights: The card will see Alycia Baumgardner defend IBF, WBO, and WBA titles against Leila Beaudoin.
The Nov. 14 fight between Paul and Davis will take place in Miami, and will have plenty of intrigue outside of the main event. Let’s start with the bout between Alycia Baumgardner and Leila Beaudoin, which will see Baumgardner (16-1, 7 KOs) defend her IBF, WBO, and WBA titles over 12 rounds.
In addition, WBA super lightweight phenom Gary Antuanne Russel (18-1, 17 KOs) will face undefeated Japanese contender Andy Hiraoka (24-0, 19 KOs) in a contest that all pugilism-oriented audiences shouldn’t miss.
Another major highlight of the main card will see Anderson “The Spider” Silva make his return to boxing for the first time since 2022. He’ll face Chris Weidman, who is making his pro boxing debut in a clash of two highly experienced former MMA fighters.
In the prelim round, Australia’s bantamweight world champion Cherneka Johnson (18-2, 8 KOs) will defend her WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF titles against Amanda Galle (12-0-1, 1 KO). Fan will also see Costa Rica’s Yokasta Valle (33-3, 10 KOs) defend her WBC strawweight championship vs. Las Vegas’ Yadira Bustillos (11-1, 2 KOs). Finally, Anvious Griffin (17-1, 16 KOs) vs. Justin Cardona (10-1, 5 KOs) over eight rounds.
The evening is packed with title fights, and it will be crowned by the main event of Jake Paul facing Gervonta “Tank” Davis, the undefeated three-division champion and reigning WBA world lightweight titleholder. It’s the latest marquee boxing match from Netflix, which hosted Paul’s fight vs. Mike Tyson last year, and the third showdown between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano earlier this year. The streamer was also home to the Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight in September.
Viewers can watch the Paul vs. Davis fight on Nov. 14 with a subscription to any Netflix plan, starting with the ad-supported Standard with Ads tier for $8 per month.
