JustWatch is set to launch its own streaming service

The streamer will offer content from Bleecker Street, Fremantle, Paramount, and more.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

There’s a new player in the streaming space. JustWatch, which serves more than 50 million users each month with its discovery platform that connects audiences to streaming content across more than 1,500 services. Now, JustWatch will begin distributing content as well; the streaming guide operator is launching a new streaming service of its own called JustWatch TV.

Key Details:

  • Here it comes: JustWatch is launching a new streamer called JustWatch TV
  • Multiple choice: The streamer will have free and paid options.
  • Good selection: JustWatch TV will launch with a selection of content from several major studios.

JustWatch TV is launching in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand initially. The service will be available starting in October and will be found in the JustWatch app and on its website.

The streaming service will have a free ad-supported tier, transactional rental options, and an ad-free, subscription-based tier as well. Pricing details have not yet been announced, but the variety of choices will give JustWatch TV subscribers the power to decide what level of service fits their needs. The setup resembles the suite of streamers offered by Roku; the company serves free streaming customers with The Roku Channel, and also provides an ad-free option in Howdy.

“Every day, millions of people come to JustWatch searching for simpler ways to watch and discover hundreds of thousands of movies and TV shows,” JustWatch Group CEO David Croyé said. “For over a decade, our mission has been to connect fans with their favorite films and shows, particularly the hard-to-find and previously unavailable titles. With the launch of JustWatch TV, we aim to make content discovery, access and engagement even easier.”

JustWatch TV will launch with content partners including Bleecker Street, Fremantle, New Regency, Paramount, and Vortex Media. Other studios have lent their content to the platform as well, and the platform’s unique model will let customers decide whether to watch a title directly on JustWatch, or simply use the service to look up other apps to stream it on.

“JustWatch TV is designed to meet that demand head-on, offering a straightforward solution at a time of fragmentation,” JustWatch executive Quentin Carbonell said. “We are curating film and TV hits and hard-to-find gems that you can watch for free or rent on JustWatch, or easily rediscover them on your favorite services. This way, JustWatch TV aims to support the whole industry, from filmmakers to distributors to streaming platforms across the world.”

Roku Channel

The Roku Channel is a free, ad-supported streaming service that offers a broad mix of movies, TV shows, live linear channels, and original programming. Available to all viewers — not just Roku device owners — the service features licensed content from major studios alongside Roku Originals, which include exclusive series, movies, and specials previously produced for Quibi, as well as new original projects developed specifically for the platform.

Programming on The Roku Channel spans multiple genres, including drama, comedy, reality TV, news, and family-friendly content. Popular titles and originals include “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,” “Die Hart,” “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” and a rotating library of classic films and TV series. The platform also offers live news channels, sports highlights, and themed FAST channels covering everything from classic TV to lifestyle programming.

Viewers can watch The Roku Channel for free on Roku devices, smart TVs, streaming players, mobile devices, and web browsers, with no subscription required. The service is also available on platforms like Amazon Fire TV and Samsung smart TVs, expanding its reach beyond the Roku ecosystem. While ads are included, the experience is designed to be lighter than traditional broadcast television.

With its combination of free access, original content, live channels, and on-demand entertainment, The Roku Channel has become one of the most widely available and accessible streaming destinations for viewers looking to watch without a monthly subscription.
