Choose the plan for you
The number of choices you have to watch NFL games with DIRECTV is pretty fantastic. All of its Signature channel packages have ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC in most markets, and every plan starting with the CHOICE package has NFL Network in its lineup as well. These plans start at $85 per month, and none of them lock you into a long-term contract.
You can also pick the MySports Genre Pack if you want to watch the NFL with DIRECTV. With 20+ channels for $70 per month, the MySports plan comes with a formidable array of football games, especially in markets that get local channels included (check with DIRECTV to see if they’re in yours). It also includes NFL Network, and like all Signature packages, comes with access to the Unlimited subscription plan of the new ESPN streamer.
If you start with one DIRECTV channel plan and decide you would be better off with another one, you can always cancel and resubscribe to another package whenever you want. You decide how you want to watch the NFL with DIRECTV, and find the package that works for you!
Add NFL RedZone
The NFL RedZone channel is the ultimate Sunday experience. The whip-around show that runs seven solid hours on Sunday afternoons and is hosted by Scott Hanson lets audiences see all of the best action around the league, with a focus on big scoring plays and crucial turnovers.
NFL RedZone isn’t automatically a part of your DIRECTV package unless you sign up for the PREMIER plan, but you can add it to any Signature package or the MySports Genre Pack. It costs $15 per month to add the Sports Pack add-on to any Signature package, including NFL RedZone and other channels. The MySports Extra mini-pack can be tacked onto the MySports Genre Pack for $13 per month.
Use the Sports Central hub
Sports Central is a programming hub dedicated to sports that all DIRECTV customers can use if they receive their channel package through a DIRECTV Gemini device. It comes with a fantastic array of features, showing viewers exactly where the next NFL game of the day is playing, allowing them to access live games with just a click, and more.
Sports Central also allows you to customize your experience by picking your favorite team, allowing you to see game-by-game match-ups with less searching around. Plus, if you have a Gemini device, you can also use it to add separate subscriptions to streamers like Netflix, Prime Video, and others that are offering NFL games this year.
Don’t forget your ESPN Unlimited!
ESPN Unlimited is the new direct-to-consumer streaming experience launched by ESPN on Aug. 21. All DIRECTV Signature plans come with free access to the platform, as does the MySports Genre Pack. When you’re watching NFL games on ESPN Unlimited, you get to use a new feature called Interactive TV, which allows you to pull up stats, highlights, betting lines, and much more while the action unfolds live. It’s an awesome way to watch an NFL game, and there are even more features to explore on ESPN Unlimited, too.
Watch in 4K
This one is mostly applicable to games on Fox, though occasionally, major events like NFL games are broadcast in 4K on ESPN and NBC as well. DIRECTV offers 4K viewing for sports events at no extra cost with all of its Signature plans, and the MySports Genre Pack as well. If the games are made available to DIRECTV in 4K, you can watch NFL contests in UHD with your subscription!
Watch NFL Sunday Ticket at your local bar
NFL Sunday Ticket doesn’t get distributed to residential customers by DIRECTV anymore; that’s YouTube TV’s job now. But DIRECTV for Business does still distribute Sunday Ticket to bars and restaurants, and there are thousands of establishments across the United States that partner with DIRECTV to offer the out-of-market games service. If your favorite team is in a different part of the country, or if you just want to get out and enjoy an afternoon of great football in a communal setting, DIRECTV can help make the day complete.
DIRECTV
DIRECTV is one of The Streamable’s top choices for the best live TV streaming service overall in 2026, especially for users who want the most channels or want to watch the most live sports. With an unbeatable lineup of local, news, sports, and entertainment channels, three main signature packages, an unlimited DVR, and 20 simultaneous streams at home, DIRECTV remains a premier choice for any cord-cutter.
