Will the Men’s Final 4, championship game be in 4K this year?
CBS will handle broadcasting duties for the semifinal and final rounds of the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
There are only a four teams still left dancing in the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Tournament’s Final Four round begins on Saturday, April 5, and many fans are likely wondering if games will be available to stream in Ultra-High-Definition 4K. We’ll answer that question below, and let you know which live TV services we recommend most highly for watching 4K content as well.
Key Details:
- The Men’s Final Four and championship game will be played on CBS, which does not offer 4K content.
- Of the major broadcast networks, only Fox provides 4K programming.
- DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, Sling TV, and YouTube TV all offer 4K capability.
The 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Final Four and championship game will all be played on CBS, which unfortunately does not offer any content in 4K. That means you won’t be able to watch the end of March Madness 2025 in UHD.
Major broadcast networks don’t frequently offer content in 4K, as the cost and technical barriers of broadcasting in this resolution are fairly prohibitive. Only Fox regularly provides events in 4K, such as its recent broadcast of Super Bowl LIX in February.
Hopefully, more channels will begin to offer 4K programming in the near future. With quadruple the pixels of a 1080p HD picture, 4K makes for an incredible sports-watching experience, allowing fans to see every detail as clearly as possible, and as more and more sports move to on-demand streaming platforms, demand for 4K streams is likely to continue growing.
There are currently four live TV streaming services that offer 4K content; DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, Sling TV, and YouTube TV. Of these four, Sling TV is our favorite because of the low cost of streaming 4K programming there. This service’s base plans start at $46 per month normally, and there is no extra charge to watch anything available in 4K with your subscription.
DIRECTV STREAM also doesn’t charge for 4K programming, though it’s a bit more expensive than Sling TV. Its Signature channel packages start at $87 per month, and comes with a five-day free trial. The MySports package also supports 4K content, and offers a sports-focused channel lineup for $70 per month.
Fubo provides 4K streaming opportunities only in its Elite package, which costs $95 per month normally, but also comes with a regional sports network fee that can climb as high as $17. Fubo does not offer 4K streaming ability in its Pro package.
YouTube TV provides 4K streaming ability in its 4K Plus add-on, which costs an additional $10 per month on top of the $83 monthly charge for a subscription.
