Optimum just gave customers who are shopping for new TV and internet plans a compelling reason to consider its own products. On Tuesday, Optimum announced it was partnering with Netflix to offer free subscriptions to the Netflix Standard with Ads plan on select internet packages and TV plans.

Optimum is providing access to free Netflix with ads on a variety of different products, starting with its internet subscriptions. Any new customer who signs up for an Optimum internet plan with 500 Mbps speeds or higher will get a Netflix Standard with Ads subscription, as will any existing customers who upgrade to 1 gig speeds.

Customers also get free Netflix with the Optimum Extra TV or Everything TV packages when they sign up as new subscribers. Any viewers on a lower-level channel package can currently upgrade to these plans to enjoy a free Netflix subscription if they want one.

A free Netflix Standard with Ads subscription will grant viewers access to a huge portion of the Netflix library overall, including all of the sporting events the streamer offers at no additional cost. The last season of “Stranger Things” hits Netflix later this month, and getting a free subscription now would certainly be a timely way to enjoy the series.
