Netflix announces new project ‘ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran’

Netflix announces new project ‘ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran’

The special will see Sheeran travel the streets of New York, and will be shot in a highly unique way.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
Netflix will present a new Ed Sheeran special dubbed ONE SHOT.

Netflix has a history of partnering with some of the biggest names in music, from getting Beyonce to perform the halftime show of an NFL game streamed by the platform last year, to the documentaries in its “ReMastered” series. The streamer now has a new team-up to tout, in the form of a special Ed Sheeran performance that will see the star singer travel to New York performing live, followed by Netflix cameras that will record him in a single shot.

Key Details:

  • Red on red: Netflix will release “ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran.”
  • Don’t sneeze: As the title suggests, the special was recorded in one continuous shot.
  • Familiar name: The project came from Emmy-winner Philip Baratini, who directed the Netflix series “Adolescence.”

Netflix is gearing up to release the new special “ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran,” which will arrive on the streaming service on Nov. 21. Netflix promises an experience like no other, an intimate journey with the multi-time Grammy winner who has gathered a huge global fanbase.

“ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran” will see the titular artist exploring New York City, guitar in hand. As he wanders the streets, he will perform some of his most-loved hits, interact with fans and unsuspecting observers, and give all who stream the documentary a singular experience.

As intimated by the title, “ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran” is an ambitious project that was shot in a single, continuous take. That means there are no cuts, and everything viewers see will be a much more authentic look at what really happened to Sheeran on his lyrical travails.

That filmmaking style is quite familiar to director Philip Baratini, who is bringing “ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran” to life. Baratini is the director of the Netflix drama “Adolescence,” which won a total of eight Emmy Awards this year. That series also used the one-shot technique for its episodes which has been adapted to this Ed Sheeran special.
