‘WWE Raw’ sets Netflix premiere date, announces new Travis Scott theme song
The wrestling program is moving exclusively to streaming starting in 2025, and it won’t be much of a wait for fans once the calendar turns.
For large parts of the country, January is a particularly cold month, but the first month of 2025 is going to heat up in a big way for Netflix. That’s when the streamer will become the exclusive home of “WWE Raw,” the weekly show that features some of the wrestling promotion’s biggest stars like Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair, and others. Netflix has finally announced when the weekly extravaganza will make the move to the world’s largest streamer and has revealed more details about its production of the show.
Key Details:
- “WWE Raw” will debut on Netflix on Monday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
- The show will be accompanied by a new theme song from Travis Scott.
- Netflix will deliver even more WWE content outside the United States.
Netflix announced on Monday that “Raw” would make its Netflix debut on Monday, Jan. 6. The show will air starting at 8 p.m. ET, and will continue airing episodes on its traditional broadcast day. The show will become Netflix’s first regular live program, though the company has been offering one-off live shows and sporting events for more than a year now.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and hip-hop artist Travis Scott first made the announcement at one of Scott’s concerts in Las Vegas. The rapper also revealed new music that he says will serve as the “WWE Raw” theme song once it moves to Netflix.
In the United States, only “Raw” is making the transition to Netflix. The USA Network — the current home of “Raw” — took on “WWE SmackDown” in October, and “WWE NXT” now airs on the The CW. Premium live events like WrestleMania, Summer Slam, and The Royal Rumble will stay on Peacock through at least 2026.
Elsewhere, however, Netflix will take over even more WWE broadcasting duties. Premium live events, “NXT,” and “SmackDown” will all move to Netflix internationally, making the streamer a hub for professional wrestling and boosting its live streaming profile even more.
The premiere of “Raw” on Netflix will come just about one year after Netflix’s deal to acquire the show’s rights was first announced. Starting in 2025, Netflix will own the rights to Netflix for a decade and will pay $500 million per year for the privilege.
