Netflix titles now appear in Apple TV’s Watchlist

Netflix titles now appear in Apple TV’s Watchlist

A new update is allowing some Apple TV owners to see shows and movies from Netflix in the Watchlist for easier navigation.

Apple TV devices have begun to show some customers Netflix titles in their Watchlist rows

The user interface on your main streaming device can make a huge difference as to what content you watch, or don’t watch. Having your most recently-watched titles shown on a home screen can have a big influence on what you choose to turn on that viewing session, and in this regard Netflix has been at a disadvantage amongst owners of Apple TV devices. Formerly, Netflix titles did not appear in the Apple TV unified Watchlist, but it appears that is now changing.

Key Details:

  • Some Apple TV owners are starting to see Netflix titles appear in the Watchlist and Continue Watching sections.
  • Apple TV shows viewers the titles they watched last on other apps as well, such as Disney+ and Max.
  • An official announcement from Netflix and Apple is likely coming soon.

Reporting from 9to5 Mac indicates that some Apple TV 4K owners have already begun to spot Netflix titles in their Watchlist, and the Continue Watching area of the user interface as well. That indicates the update will be making its way to a wider group of Apple TV owners soon.

These viewers are being prompted to connect their Netflix account to their Apple TV app on their player, and once they’ve done so the changeover can be applied. It’s a key update for Apple TV and for Netflix; having shows and movies from the world’s largest streaming service show up on the Apple TV home screen is a rising tide that can lift all boats.

It also puts an end to an advantage that other streamers held over Netflix on Apple TV devices until now. The player tracks what owners are watching across different apps like Disney+ and Max, and showing those titles in the Continue Watching row can make it much easier for viewers who don’t want to think about what they’ll watch when they turn on TV to choose those apps.

If you own an Apple TV device and are a Netflix account holder, check to see if you’re prompted to connect your Netflix to your player the next time you log in. If so, you’ll be able to see your recently-watched Netflix shows in the Continue Watching and Watchlist areas.
