Netflix adds long-awaited feature to aid content discovery

Netflix adds long-awaited feature to aid content discovery

Netflix has created a section where viewers can see all the top shows and moves that are about to leave the streamer.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
Netflix is creating a new Last Chance to Watch category for viewers to see shows and movies that are leaving soon.

One of the best things about Netflix is also one of the biggest drawbacks of the service. Netflix gets a huge selection of content from studios all over the world via licensing agreements, but those agreements by definition have to expire sometime. That means the titles the streamer licenses have to come off of Netflix when their time comes, and until now , Netflix hasn’t offered a great way to see all such shows and movies in one place. But at long last, Netflix has launched a category where viewers can see shows and movies that are departing the service in a short time.

Key Details:

  • Don’t miss it!: Netflix has finally launched a Last Chance to Watch category.
  • Always some warning: Previously, Netflix tagged show and movie tiles with Leaving Soon badges.
  • Your choice: There are several ways to view the information when you hit the Last Chance to Watch screen.

Netflix’s Last Chance to Watch category is available to browse now, and you can click this link to watch it. There are still some kinks to work out with the section; What's On Netflix reports that there are some movies included that won’t be leaving the streamer for six months or more.

Still, it’s a feature that fans have been waiting for a long time. Previously, viewers only had one way of knowing whether or not a title was about to disappear from Netflix: a small badge that said Leaving Soon embedded in the content tile. This was useful. No doubt, but never before were all of these titles available in one place.

There are several ways to sort the information that comes up when you click into the Last Chance to Watch category on Netflix. You can see titles suggested for you by Netflix’s algorithm, sort by year released, or alphabetically, allowing a level of customization to a feature that fans will already love.

This is just the latest change to its user experience that Netflix has made in 2025. Over the summer, the streamer rolled out a major update to its UX for connected TVs that radically overhauled the experience. Many viewers have said they aren’t as enthused about that evolution, but I found the new Netflix UX pretty intuitive to use.

Last Chance to Watch is rolling out on Netflix now, so if you don’t see the option yet, you soon will. At last, Netflix customers will have a way to see a long list of the titles leaving the streamer in one place, instead of having to search around the service’s library for them.
