A ‘Squid Game’-themed yule log? Three show-based logs coming to Netflix this year

We are firmly in the midst of the Christmas and holiday season, and Netflix wants to make sure its customers can get into the spirit of things. The platform is launching three new Yule log streams in 2024, based on popular series and movies exclusive to the service in order to hopefully steer more subscribers to the shows.

Key Details:

  • Netflix is launching yule logs themed after “Bridgerton,” “Spellbound,” and “Squid Game.”
  • It already carries more traditional Yule logs, as well as some based on other series like “The Witcher.”
  • Netflix’s Yule logs ranked very highly in The Streamable’s Yule log rankings last year.

The most surprising new yule log in the Netflix lineup is the one themed for its reality series thriller “Squid Game,” which seems like a somewhat odd choice given the subject matter of the show itself. The series itself is not exactly a peaceful watching experience, but thankfully there are no jump scares or horrific challenges presented to watchers during the Yule log stream; just some disconcerting background noises at times.

The second new Yule log on Netflix comes from its new animated movie “Spellbound,” and is a much better choice for families with kids. This one takes viewers to a peaceful clearing, where in addition to the crackling fire, they’ll hear the sounds of an enchanted forest, along with some calming instrumental themes from the film itself.

The “Bridgerton” fireplace is much the same, though, of course, the fireplace appears to be set in the kind of opulent, palatial mansion that features so frequently in the show. Once again, instrumental themes from the series play in the background as the fire chuffs merrily along.

Netflix also has other Yule log selections, including more traditional options with nothing more than a burning log in a fireplace. There are other series-based logs on the streamer as well, including one themed after “The Witcher” which is returning for 2024.

In our 2023 streaming yule log rankings, Netflix logs are rated quite highly as compared to some others in the streaming world. If you don’t have access to a fireplace of your own but want to engender that holiday warmth and charm that comes with a roaring fire, Netflix’s new yule logs could be just what you need to get into the spirit of the season.
